당시 14-16세기 오산선승의 지식은 사찰 안에서만 공유되는 지식이 아니었다. 일본의 권력층과 공유하는 지식이 되었고 그들의 중국에 대한 인식은 당시 일본의 권력층이 중국을 인식하는 방식에 영향을 끼쳤다. 본고에서 필자는 오산선승들이 중국의 그림, 중국 관련 그림 주제를 공유하는 과정에서 중국에 대해 어떠한 이미지를 갖게 되었고 어떤 방식으로 공유하였는지 살펴보려고 한다. 첫째, 그들이 중국과 관련된 그림을 어떻게 공유하였는지를 살피고 그 과정에 그들의 패트론과 어떻게 조우하였는지를 고찰하였다. 둘째, 그들이 그림에 시를 쓴 내용에 대해 구체적으로 살펴보았다. 그 결과 그들은 중국과 관련된 인물과 이야기, 산수 및 전원에 대한 그림을 보고 시를 쓰면서 중국에 대한 이미지를 갖게 되었다. 특히 중국 관련 그림은 막부 권력자의 요구에 의해 그려지고 소장되었으며, 그 그림에 찬시까지 더하여 장군의 저택을 장식하는 요소로 사용되었음을 중요하게 다루었다.
The knowledge of Wu-Shan Zen Monks in the 14th-16th century was not shared only within the temple. It became knowledge shared with Japan's shogunate and their perception of China influenced the way Japan's shogunate perceived China at the time. In this paper, I am going to look at the images of China and how the Wu-Shan Zen Monks shared them in the process of sharing Chinese paintings and Chinese-related painting topics. First, it examined how they shared paintings related to China and how they encountered their Patron in the process. Second, they looked specifically at what they wrote in the painting. As a result, they had a yearning for China by writing poems after seeing people, stories, and pictures of the natural environment related to China. In the end, China, which Wu-Shan’s leaders learned through painting, was an idealized China. Namely, in the 14th and 16th centuries, Wu-Shan Zen Monks and the Japan's shogunate were in awe and possessive of Chinese paintings. And It was important that the Japan's shogunate always looked closely at paintings related to China. Depending on the times, Japan began to fear China from indifference and came to have an idealized image. In this paper, Wu-Shan Zen Monks was able to examine the unique way of sharing paintings, which allowed Japan's intellectual and powerful people to see the perception of China at the time.
