우리는 읽고, 쓰고, 생각하고, 그리고 말하기라는 이 모든 행위가 총체적으로 기능하지 않고 각각 구별해서 움직인다고 생각하는 경향이 있다. 다시 말해 읽을 때 보이지는 않지만 쓰는 행위, 생각하는 행위, 그리고 말하는 행위가 동시에 작용하지 않는다고 생각한다. 그리하여 읽는 행위가 보이는 것으로 발현되기에 보이지 않는 쓰고, 생각하고, 그리고 말하기는 읽을 때 없는 것으로 간주한다. 그래서인지 현재 우리의 교육 프로그램인 암기식 교육은 보이는 것만을 위해서 편성되어 있고, 특히 말하기는 아예 소외된 것이 사실이다. 필자는 읽기, 쓰기, 생각하기, 그리고 말하기, 이 모든 행위를 ‘학문하기’라고 주장한다. 이를 위해서 ‘TRTL’ 수업이 철학의 재현과 환원, 즉 일원론적으로 순환되는 학문하기의 과정임을 먼저 파악해야 할 필요성이 있다. 그 과정에서 우리는 『어린왕자』와 『해저 2만리』가 어떻게 ‘TRTL’ 수업에서 활용되고 있는지를 분석해야 한다. 이 두 권의 책을 선정한 이유는 학생들에게 가장 대중적으로 읽힐 수 있는 책이기 때문이다. 한편 앞의 두 권의 책에서 논의하지 못한 ‘말하기’는 남아공의 유명한 헌법재판관인 알비 삭스의 『블루 드레스』를 제시함으로써 학문하기는 읽기, 쓰기, 생각하기, 그리고 말하기까지를 포함한 ‘대화(conversation)’라는 것을 알게 될 것이다. 결국 ‘TRTL’ 수업은 대화를 바탕으로 하는 학문하기에 그 목적이 있는 교육 프로그램임을 인식할 수 있을 것이고, 이러한 인식이 본 논문을 쓰는 목적이다.
When we are reading, writing, thinking, and speaking, we ought to practice the four acts not separately, but generally. In other words, it is means that what is reading could include writing, thinking, and speaking, in the same manner what is writing could contain reading, thinking, and speaking(etc). Nevertheless we used to regard reading as the only act which is read, and in my opinion I think that it is fault. Because the one act of the four acts could include the four acts. Even if we do not see the three acts excepting the act which is in progress by language, the three acts could be included in the one act being in progress. In spite of that, our educational program have put special stress on the showing education in which the speaking education did not be contained. On my thesis, I argue that the whole acting, that is to say reading, writing, thinking, and speaking consider ‘Learning’. To demonstrate my thesis, I will research how the HUFS(Hankook University of Foreign Studies) lesson called 'TRTL(Today Reader, Tomorrow Leader)' works by the philosophical concept of 'representation' and 'reduction'. On the research, I will present three famous literary works, Little Prince, Twenty Thousand Leagues under the Sea, and The strange alchemy of life and law. On the process of the argumentation, we will know that 'Learning' is the conversation including the speaking, and moreover ‘TRTL’ lesson is to aim for 'Learning' of the educational program.
