이 논문은 대학 토익 교과목의 시험평가에 나타난 타당도, 공정성, 윤리성을 강조하고, 학생성적에 대한 교수자의 책임을 논한다. 이 연구는 그동안 선행연구가 교수법, 학습자 변인, 시험의 속성과 효과 이외에 대학 교수자의 시험평가를 언급하지 않았다는 점에서 비롯되었다. 연구방법으로서 토익의 타당도와 관계자의 인식에 대한 연구는 타당도 제고 방식의 변천과 인식의 다양성, 토익의 타당도와 학습법에 대한 교수자와 학습자의 인식, 토익의 유용성에 대한 관련 학습자와 면접자의 인식을 고찰한다. 그리고, 미국교육평가위원회 회장을 역임한 린다 크로커(Linda Crocker)의 견해를 참고하여 대학 토익과목 학습자의 성적에 대한 교수자의 책임을 논한다. 이 과정에서 연구될 토익의 구인 타당도, 성적 활용, 시의적인 효과 등과 관련한 구체적인 내용은 교수자의 공정하고 효과적인 시험관리에 유용한 지침이 될 것이다.
This paper aims to emphasize the validity, fairness, ethics appearing in the test evaluation of the university subject TOEIC and discuss the professors’ responsibility related to students’ test results. This research started from the fact that the preceding studies have not referred to teachers’ test evaluation besides teaching methods, learner factors, test properties, and test effect. As a research method, the research of the validity of TOEIC and stakeholders’ awareness observes the transition of methodology improvement, the diversity of the awareness, professors’ and learners’ recognition of the validity of TOEIC and teaching method, and learners’ and interviewers’ understanding of the usefulness of TOEIC. Also, the researcher, consulting Linda Crocker, a former chairman of National Council on Measurement in Education, discusses professors’ liability for students’ test results. The detailed contents related to the construct validity, the application of test results, and the timely effect and the like will give a useful guidance to professors’ fair and effective test management.
