본 연구는 제 21대 총선에서 처음 선거권을 가진 청소년들의 투표참여에 영향을 미치는 요인을 살펴보는 것에 그 목적을 두었다. 연구대상은 제21대 총선이 생애 처음 투표인 697명의 만 18세에서 만 20세 청소년이었다. 투표행태에 관한 이론고찰을 통하여 청소년의 투표참여에 영향을 미치는 변인을 인과성퍼널 모델을 적용하여 7개로 정리하였다. 총 640부의 자료를 SPSS 21.0을 사용하여 분석하였다. 분석방법은 기술통계, 상관분석, 이항로지스틱회귀분석이었다. 연구결과, 다음과 같은 논의 및 결론이 도출되었다. 청소년의 투표참여에 영향을 미치는 요인은 법과정치 과목 선택여부, 투표교육 여부, 투표참여경험, 참여활동경험, 정치의식, 정당후보자요인, 이슈요인으로 나타났다. 이 중 정당후보자요인은 청소년의 투표참여에 부적 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 미디어사용, 정치대화, 사회문화 과목 선택여부, 정치효능감, 정치관심도는 청소년의 투표참여에 영향을 주지 않았다.
This study was to examine the factors influencing the voting participation of youth who had the right to vote for the first time in the 21st general election, South Korea. For this study, An online survey was conducted on 697 male and female adolescents nationwide. The age of the survey participants ranged from 18 to 20 years old, who took part in the 21st general election as the first time voter. The social and psychological factors of voting behavior were selected and the funnel of causality model with 7 variables. A total of 640 pieces of data were used for analysis. Descriptive statistics and correlation analysis were performed for data analysis. And binary logistic regression analysis was conducted to find out the variables affecting the voting participation of youth. SPSS 21.0 program for Windows was used for the analysis. The factors influencing the voting participation of youth primary voter were found as follows. Selecting subject ‘Law and Politics’, taking the voting education, voting experience in school, experience of youth participation activities, political consciousness, political party-candidate factors, and issue factors were significant statistically. Among them, the party-candidate factor was found to have a negative effect on the voting participation of youth. It was also found that media use, political dialogue, selecting the subject ‘Society and Culture’, political efficacy and political interest did not affect youth's participation in voting.
