In Q, the mission is the expression of Jesus' language, the kingdom of God. The notion of kingdom of God is for the Q group the raison d'etre of the Q mission itself. The concern of the kingdom of God and its rejection utilizes the "harvest" metaphor, which by implication denotes both salvation and judgment, to give a prophetic warning. Further, Q regards the missionaries as "sheep among wolves" (Q 10' 3) This image of contrast depicts the pressing situation of the missionaries in face of the dominant culture. In my judgment, the saying of Jesus' commission not to take money, provisions or sandals (Q 10'4) is likely to represent the symbolic behavior that signifies the presence of God in the midst of people (not just in the Temple only). Their charge is to treat Israel as a holy field in which God's eschatological immediacy can be experienced. Thus, their travel is not regarded as an itinerary of travel. The proclamation of the dynamic presence of the kingdom of God is, thus, directly linked with both reception (Q 10 8-9) and rejection (Q 10:10-11). In particular, the Q group regards itself as representing the message of Jesus, i e , the kingdom of God. In Q, what is characteristic is that the Q missionaries represent the kingdom of God (Q 10:16)
