본 연구는 전국 226개 시･군･구 기초자치단체 자료를 중심으로 지식기반산업의 산업구조와 지역경제성과의 영향관계를 분석하고, 수도권과 비수도권의 비교를 실시하였다. 실증분석을 위해 고정효과모형을 비롯한 패널모형분석을 실시하였고 분석결과, 전국 단위의 분석 및 수도권･비수도권 단위의 분석결과에서 차이를 확인하였다. 구체적으로 전국 단위에서는 지식기반산업 다양성과 지식기반산업 경쟁도가 지역경제성과에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 전국을 수도권과 비수도권으로 구분했을 때 수도권에서는 지식기반산업 특화성과 지식기반산업 다양성이, 비수도권에서는 지식기반산업 경쟁도가 지역경제성과에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 전국 단위의 분석과 권역을 구분하여살펴보았을 때 지역경제성과를 증진시키는 지식기반산업의 구체적 특성이 수도권과 비수도권에서 분명하게 차이가 나타남을 의미한다. 따라서 중앙 및 지방정부 차원에서 지식기반산업을 육성하고 이를경제성장의 동력으로 활용하는데 있어 수도권과 비수도권의 서로 다른 산업특성을 이해하고, 그에 따른 적절한 지원과 제도를 실시할 필요가 있다.
This study examined the effect of industrial structure of knowledge-based industry on local economic performance focusing on 226 local governments, and compared the metropolitan areas and non-metropolitan areas. For the empirical analysis, panel model analysis was conducted. As results of the analysis, it was found the differences in national level, metropolitan areas and non-metropolitan areas. First, the diversity and competition of knowledge-based industry have a significant effect on local economic performance at national level. Second, the specialization and diversity of knowledge-based industry has a significant effect on local economic performance at metropolitan areas. On the other hand, the competition of knowledge-based industry has a significant effect on local economic performance at non-metropolitan areas. This means there are differences in characteristics of knowledge-based industry, which promotes regional economic performance between the metropolitan areas and non-metropolitan areas. For the development of knowledge-based industry, it is necessary to provide a support systems considering the differences of industrial characteristics between metropolitan areas and non-metropolitan ares.
