The control method of variable speed and pitch has been adopted for most recent MW wind turbines. In the variable pitch system, the pitch angle is adjusted to maintain the rated power when the wind speed is higher than rated. The pitch system consists of a pitch controller and pitch actuator. When the pitch angle operates in the pitch actuator, a time delay typically occurs because of the existence of Coulomb friction. In previous research, it was recommended to set about 15 rad/s for the bandwidth of the pitch actuator in terms of output power response when the time delay is not considered. In this paper, we carried out numerical simulations with a turbulence wind speed for a 2 MW wind turbine considering the time delay of the pitch actuator. It is recommended to set about 60 rad/s for the bandwidth of the pitch controller, as this is appropriate when all things such as mean output power, standard deviation of output power, mean rotor speed, standard deviation of rotor speed, and rotor overspeed are considered.
