This study set out to reinterpret two relatively familiar Saseol-sijo works, <The Toad Holding The Fly in Its Mouth〜> and <My Lover Said He/She Is Coming〜>, according to a rather strange way of reading called "anthropological reflection". These two works share the same syntactic structure in the third line, which goes “때마침 〜ㄹ망정 〜을 뻔했다”, despites considerable heterogeneity in their materials themselves. Given the huge significance of the third line in the interpretations of a Sijo work, the two works have enough room for an interpretation in the same space. They also seem to be in a mutually complementary relation as the interpretative justification of one may guarantee the other. Interestingly, the issue of "illusion" is involved in both of the works. But, the illusion of here was "An illusion of me", "An illusion by me", and "An illusion for me". In the works that all converge into "me", "illusion" is a burst of laughter for readers and, at the same time, a sarcastic smile to general human beings. In this aspect, the two works appear to come from the sharp observation and cold-headed understanding of "life and human beings".
