산하루'는 동남대학교 학생인 후야오가 3·1운동을 소재로 창작한 연극이며, 3·1운동을 소재로 한 최초의 문학예술 작품이기도 하다. 창작 목적은 “한국 독립운동의 정신을 보여줌으로써 세계 피압박 민족을 위해 불평을 늘어놓으며 제국주의 야심가들에게 경고하기 위함”이다. 극본은 출판 이후 중국 문학계와 예술계의 주목과 관심을 받으며 여러 차례 인쇄되었고, 전국 각지에서 앞다투어 이 작품을 연극무대에 올려 한국독립운동 정신을 선전하였으며, 중국민중을 일깨워 국난을 극복하는 데도 중요한 역할을 하였다.
“Tears of Mountains and Rivers” is a drama with the theme of the March 1st Movement, which was created by Hou Yao, a student of Southeast University at that time. It is also the earliest literary and artistic work with the theme of the March 1st Movement. The purpose of the play is to “describe the spirit of the Korean independence movement, and make an outcry for the oppressed nations in the world, and give a sharp warning to the imperialist careerists.” After its publication, the script of “Tears of Mountains and Rivers” was welcomed by all walks of life in China, reprinted many times and staged publicly throughout the country, which played an important role in spreading the spirit of the Korean independence movement and call for the Chinese people to save the nation.
