This study analyzes the destruction and transformation of Zainichi Koreans’ (ethnic Koreans living in Japan) traditional narratives based on the concept of “mobility” found in a novel series "The Zombies" written by Kazuki Kaneshiro. The living corpse(zombies) and the changing single-cell creature amoeba represent the identities of the main characters. The protagonists, who are given the names of historical figures renowned for resistance and revolution, embark on an adventure to bring about a revolution and change the genetic makeup of this world. Referring to the zombies in Kaneshiro's works, by investigating the manner in which the Zainichi Koreans' identity expressed by the first and second generations has been deconstructed and how the homeland-oriented Zainichi Koreans' ideology has been transformed, this study aims to determine the complexity and multiplicity of the Zainichi Koreans' texts, which attempt to break away from the yoke of their identity as "Zainichi Koreans."
