‘의미’란 무엇인가? ‘의미’는 우리가 살아가면서 너무나 당연한 것으로 전제하고 있는 것으로서 그것을 잘 알고 있는 것 같지만, 단정적으로 답하기 어려운 그 무엇이다. 본 논문에서 규명하려는 것은 철학적 의미론으로서, 언어학 또는 언어분석철학과는 간접적으로 연관되어 있지만 그것과는 다른 차원의 ‘들뢰즈의 의미론’이다. 하지만 우리는 들뢰즈의 저작에서 명확한 언어이론을 찾기 힘들며, 심지어 언어의 문제를 단독으로 다룬 책은 한 권도 없다는 점이 들뢰즈의 언어이론을 연구하는데 상당한 어려움을 야기하고 있다. 다만 우리는 들뢰즈의 저술 중에서 유일하게 『의미의 논리』가 ‘언어에 관한’ 것이라고 주장될 수 있기에 여기에 초점을 맞추어 ‘의미란 무엇인가’, ‘의미는 어떻게 발생하는가’를 규명해 보려고 한다. 들뢰즈 사유의 전개과정에서 『의미의 논리』(1969)는 『차이와 반복』(1968)만큼 특별한 위치를 차지하고 있다. 오랜 철학사 탐구의 결정체이자 자신만의 독자적인 철학체계를 완성하여 전기(前期) 철학을 마무지 지은 『차이와 반복』으로부터, 가타리를 만난 후 『안티 오이티푸스』로부터 시작된 후기(後期)의 논의로 변화해 간 그의 사유의 변화과정에서, 『의미의 논리』는 중간 허리의 역할을 하고 있다. 따라서 들뢰즈의 전기와 후기사유를 단절시키지 않고 연속적으로 이해하기 위해서는 이 책을 면밀하게 살펴보아야만 할 것이다. 본 논문은 들뢰즈 전기의 두 번째 주저인 『의미의 논리』에서 그 전체구성을 규정하고 있는 의미의 ‘정적 발생’(genèse statique)과 ‘동적 발생’(genèse dynamique)이라는 주제에 관하여, 전반부의 중심을 이루고 있는 정적 발생의 구성을 탐구하려는데 목적이 있다.
What is meaning? Meaning is something that we presume to be so natural or pretty obvious in our lives. It is far too often taken for granted and we pretend to know it well. But it is something that is difficult to define categorically. What I want to clarify in this paper is 'Deleuze's semantics' as a kind of philosophical semantics. Philosophical semantics is closely related to linguistics or linguistic philosophy, but 'Deleuze's semantics' is a different dimension. However, it is difficult to find a clear language theory in Deleuze's works, and there is not even a single book dealing with the problem of language in his works. This causes considerable difficulty in studying Deleuze's language theory. However, since we can argue that the only one in his writings, The Logic of Sense, is 'about language', by focusing on this book we will try to elucidate 'what is meaning' and 'how does meaning arise?'. In the development process of Deleuze's thoughts, The Logic of Sense (1969) occupies a special place as well as Difference and Repetition (1968). Difference and Repetition is a crystal of a long quest for philosophical history, but also a completion of his own philosophy system and the first half philosophy. The Logic of Sense plays the role of a middle waist in his thoughts developed into the latter half of his discussions that was started from Anti-Oedipus after he met Felix Guattari and from Difference and Repetition. Therefore, we need to look closely at The Logic of Sense so that we will be able to understand it continuously without breaking the first half and the latter half. Deleuze's second major book of the first half, The Logic of Sense is overall composed of the themes of ‘Static-genesis’ and ‘Dynamic-genesis’. The purpose of this thesis is to explore the composition of ‘Static-genesis’ that is at the center of the former part of this book.
