In late 19th and early 20th century, China had been loser in a series of conflicts with western countries. When reflecting this history, some people attributed the defeat to cultural factors, thus started the anti-ancient trend. Anti-ancient arguments take distinction between economy, politics and culture and the cause-effect relationship between the three as the assumptive premise, and the decline of the nation as the factual premise, hence infer that culture is liable to the nation`s weakness. However, as both of the premises are false, the whole logic is wrong. Besides, the pro-ancient logic, seemly opposite to anti-ancient logic, is in fact the same with the latter.
