본 논문은 가브리엘 마르셀의 실존적 인간이해를 형이상학적이고 해석학적으로 규명하고자 하였다. 지성능력과 감성능력에 있어서 인공지능(AI)이 인간을 능가할 시점이 임박한 현대에 있어서 인간실존에 대한 전면적인 논의는 불가피해졌다. 그렇지만, 인간실존에 대한 현대적 논의는 기술과학의 주도에 따라 협소화된 새로운 차원의 윤리적 지평위에 놓여 있어, 전통적으로 다루어져 왔던 인간됨의 의미, 우리의 삶을 의미 있게 만드는 인간본연의 가치에 대해서는 차폐되어지고 있다. 이런 현대적 논의 상황을 문제시하면서, 차이와 융합을 강조하는 소통과 개방의 시대에 오히려 학문적 논의에서 도외시 되고 있는 형이상학적이고 실존적인 인간이해를 다시 부각시킬 필요가 있다. 본 논문은 마르셀이 분석한 깨어진 세계에서 인간실존이 소외(疎外)와 절망, 좌절로부터 오히려 자기존재의 궁극적 근원에 직면하여 삶의 의미를 어떻게 발견하고 경험하는지를 살펴보았다. 인간의 기본상황에서 빚어지는 문제를 바탕으로 과거의 전통철학이 소홀히 취급했던 신(神)으로부터 소외된 인간, 그리고 소외의 결과로 빚어지는 고독, 불안, 허무의 체험이 오히려 근본적인 존재의미를 찾는 가능성이 된다는 마르셀의 실존적 인간관을 고찰하였다.
This paper seeks to investigate Gabriel Marcel’s existential understanding of a human being from metaphysical and hermeneutic point of view. The time when the singularity is achieved, when AI surpasses the intellectual performance and sensitivity of human beings, is near. Thus, the holistic discussion of existential human being is becoming increasingly inevitable. However, contemporary discussion of human existence is being undertaken only on the ethical horizon of the new dimension, which was supposed to be narrow according to techno-science’s strong influence. The discussion of the human, the aspect that make Humanity and human life meaningful due to the influence their intrinsic value, is being defiladed. This paper examines this narrow contemporary discussion of human existence and attempts to highlight the metaphysical and existential understanding of the human being. This paper investigates how human existence in the broken world, analyzed by Marcel, finds and experiences life’s meaning based on the ultimate source of self-existence in the face of alienation, despair, and frustration. Marcel’s perspective on existential human beings offers invaluable insights that human alienation, which has been caused by a severance from the divine, and the experience of solitude and anxiety can offer an opportunity to potentially seek the fundamental meaning of existence.
