해방 후 한국기독교의 사회복지를 형성하는데 중요한 역할을 한 사람들은 광주를 중심으로 활동을 했던 최흥종, 강순명, 이현필이었으며, 이들은 모두 성경만을 읽고 실천하여 절대청빈과 금욕주의를 실천했던 이세종에게서 영향을 받았다. 최흥종은 포사이스 선교사가 한센병환자를 그리스도의 사랑으로 사랑하는 모습에 감동을 받아 평생 동안 한센병환자들과 결핵환자들을 돌보는데 헌신하였다. 해방 후에 그는 음성한센병 환자들을 위해 나주에 호혜원을 설립하였고, 결핵환자들을 돌보는 송등원과 무등원의 설립과 운영에서 이현필과 협력하였다. 그의 사위인 강순명목사는 이세종과 장인인 최흥종목사와 일본사회주의자인 가가와 토요히꼬와 광주 YMCA의 에비슨 등의 영향을 받아 공동체생활을 통해 무료교육을 하는 교육복지를 실현하고자 하였다. 해방 전에는 독신수도단을 통해 농촌지도자 육성하고자 하였고, 해방 후에는 복음전파자들을 육성하고자 연경원을 설립하여 무료교육의 교육복지를 실천하고자 하였으며, 가난한 노인들을 섬기고자 천혜양로원을 설립하였다. 이현필은 이세종의 순결사상에 가장 깊이 영향을 받았고 최흥종과 강순명의 영향을 받으면서 동광원이라는 수도공동체를 설립하였고 이 수도공동체에서 순명, 순결, 청빈, 사랑, 노동의 영성을 실천하고자 하였고, 그러한 영성을 바탕으로 고아원인 동광원, 결핵환자들을 돌보는 송등원과 무등원, 귀일원등을 설립하였다. 이들은 해방 후의 혼란스럽고 어려운 경제상황 속에서도 기독교신앙을 바탕으로 사회적인 약자들을 가족같이 섬기는 사랑의 공동체를 이룩하는 토착적인 사회복지를 실천하고자 하였다.
The people who played an important role in shaping the social welfare of Christianity after Liberation were Choi Heung-jong, Kang Soon-myung, and Lee Hyun-pil, who were active in Gwangju, and were all influenced by Lee Se-jong, who practiced absolute honest poverty and asceticism by reading and practicing the Bible only. Choi Heung-jong was impressed by the way W. H. Forsythe Missionary loved lepers with the love of Christ and devoted his life to caring for lepers and tuberculosis patients. After Liberation, he established Ho Hye-won in Naju for patients with negative lepers, and cooperated with Lee Hyun-pil in the establishment and operation of Song Deung-won and Mudeungwon, which take care of tuberculosis patients. His son-in-law, Reverend Kang Soon-myung, was influenced by Lee Se-jong and his father-in-law, Rev. Choi Heung-jong, Japanese christian socialist Toyohiko Kagawa, and Avison of the Gwangju YMCA to realize free education through community life. Prior to Liberation, rural leaders were to be fostered through a single monastery, and after Liberation, Jeonkyungwon, a training center to practice free education welfare was established to foster evangelicalists , and Cheonhye nursing home was established to serve the poor elderly. Lee Hyun-pil was most deeply influenced by Lee Se-jong's idea of purity and established Donggwangwon, which was influenced by Choe Heung-jong and Kang Soon-myung, and he also tried to practice the spirituality of purity, chastity, honest poverty, love and labor. Based on such spirituality, he founded Donggwangwon, Songdeungwon, Mudeungwon, and Gwiilwon, which took care of tuberculosis patients. In the midst of the chaotic and difficult economic situation after Liberation, they tried to practice the indigenous social welfare system, which established a community of love that served the socially disadvantaged as a family based on Christian beliefs.
