본 연구는 한 위(Wee) 클래스 전문상담사가 살아낸 경험이 직업적응에 주는 의미를 탐구하기 위한 것이다. 연구참여자는 위(Wee) 클래스 전문상담사로 5년 이상 근무한 경력이 있는 40대 여성이다. 자료수집은 2016년 10월부터 2017년 6월까지 주로 면담, 전화, 문자를 통해 진행되었다. 자료 분석은 Clandinin과 Connelly(2000)가 제안한 내러티브 탐구 절차에 따라 수행하였다. 연구참여자는 위(Wee) 클래스 전문상담사로 직무에서 요구되는 역할을 수행하는 과정에서 전문성 발달을 통해 순회상담과 역할과다의 소진을 극복하며 직업에 만족하였고, 학생들의 변화와 성장을 통해서 보람을 느끼며 위(Wee) 클래스 전문상담사에 대한 사회적 기대를 충족시킴으로써 직업에 적응하였다. 연구참여자의 위(Wee) 클래스 전문상담사로 살아낸 이야기가 직업 적응과정에 주는 의미는 <외딴섬처럼 소속감과 정체성을 갖기 어려웠던 경험>, <전문상담사로 실력 갖추기>, <옹호자로서 전문상담사>, <나만의 길을 찾아서>으로 구성되었다. 본 연구결과를 토대로 후속연구와 지원 방안에 대해 제언하였다.

This study explored the meaning of an Wee class counselor’s work adjustment experience. One research participant who have worked for more than five years as a professional counselor in 40s was selected for the study. The data was collected through interviews, call and text message from October, 2016 to June, 2017. Data analysis was carried out according to the narrative inquiry procedure presented by Clandinin and Connelly(2000). Participant felt fulfilled through growth and change of students and was satisfied with her job by overcoming the exhaustion of excessive roles and itinerant counseling through professional development in the process of playing the role required in the job as a Wee class counselor. The meaning of story of living as Wee class professional counselor on Kim Ji-hee’s work adjustment consists of <Experience of having difficulty to have a sense of belonging and identity like a remote island>, <Being professional as a professional counselor>, <A professional counselor as an advocate>, and <Finding my own path>. Based on the results of this study, follow-up research and support plans are suggested.
