페스탈로치는 인성교육을 실천한 대표적인 인물이라고 할 수 있다. 그러나 그의 인성교육에 초점을 맞춘 연구는 찾을 수 없다. 이에 본 논문에서는 페스탈로치의 교육활동이 오늘날의 인성교육과 어떤 관련이 있는지를 살펴보고, 그것이 오늘날의 인성교육에 시사하는 바를 고찰하였다. 먼저, 페스탈로치의 교육론 중 가정교육과 빈민교육, 전인교육과 노작교육을 통해 인간다운 인간을 기르려는 그의 인성교육 정신을 찾을 수 있었다. 나아가 페스탈로치의 교육활동이 오늘날의 인성교육에 주는 함의를 탐색하였다. 보다 구체적으로는 페스탈로치의 ‘체화지향적 인성교육’과 ‘상호작용을 통한 인성교육’에 대한 내용과 그의 인성교육과 관련 있는 방법들에 대해 살펴보았다. 결론적으로 페스탈로치의 교육내용은 현재 인성교육에 충분히 적용가능하다는 사실을 도출하였다.
Pestalozzi is the representative person who practiced character education, but no research can be found focusing on his character education. Thus, in this paper, we discussed how Pestalozzi's education activities are related to today's character education and looked for what it suggests to today's character education. In Pestalozzi's theory of education, we explored the home education and education for the poor, the whole-being education, work-oriented education and found the spirit of his character education to raise a human being. In order to find the meaning of Pestalozzi's education activities in today's character education, we studied character education through embodied-oriented character education and interaction based character education, set an example of a teacher who personally practices character education, and studied his teaching methods related to character education. In conclusion, Pestalozzi's educational content can be fully utilized in today's character education.
