코로나바이러스감염증-19(코로나19)의 대유행은 지역사회 돌봄 공백을 가져와 성인 지적장애인과 주된 돌봄 제공자인 부모의 삶에 영향을 주고 있다. 본 연구는 코로나19 확산에 따라 지역사회 복지서비스 이용이 어려운 상황에서 성인 지적장애인을 돌보는 부모의 서비스 욕구를 탐색하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 지역사회에 거주하는 성인 지적장애인의 주 돌봄 제공자인 부모19명을 대상으로 비대면과 대면의 혼합방식을 이용하여 심층인터뷰를 실시하였다. 분석을 통해 (1)코로나19로 가중된 돌봄 제공자의 돌봄 부담 완화, (2)코로나19 유행기간에도 이용 가능한다양한 형태의 복지서비스 제공, (3)코로나19 유행기간의 서비스 공백으로 인한 어려움 완화의3가지 대주제 내에서 10개의 서비스 욕구가 도출되었다. 본 연구는 코로나19와 같은 사회적재난 발생 시 성인 지적장애인의 일상이 유지되고 돌봄 제공자의 돌봄 부담을 완화하기 위한 서비스 욕구를 파악함으로써 지역사회 내 필요한 서비스 개발 및 실행에 대한 필요성과 근거를 제시하였다. 본 연구를 통해 코로나19에 대응하면서 동시에 성인 지적장애인 돌봄 제공자의 욕구가 반영된 지역사회 서비스가 제공되기를 기대한다.
Adults with intellectual disabilities and their family are affected by the absence of community care due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This study explored the service needs of the parents with an adult child with intellectual disabilities during the COVID-19 outbreak when community services were restricted. We conducted in-depth interviews with 19 main caregivers of an adult child with intellectual disabilities living in the community via phone or in person. The result of analysis yielded 10 subthemes related to service needs within three main themes: (a) reducing the care burden of caregivers caused by COVID-19, (b) providing available community services in diverse format during COVID-19, and (c) alleviating difficulties caused by service absence due to COVID-19. This study provides evidence and highlights the significance of community care services for people with intellectual disabilities during the pandemic by identifying the service needs of parents to ensure adults with intellectual disabilities maintain their daily life in the community and reduce the burden on their caregivers. This study can inform the development of a community support system that reflect the needs of caregivers of adult children with intellectual disabilities in response to COVID-19.
