글은 독일통일 30주년을 맞아 분단 75주년을 맞는 한국교회가 어떻게 해야 할지를 다룬다. 독일은 통일로 국제 사회에서 모범국가로 평가받는 나라가 되었다. 역으로 세계의 유일한 분단국 한국은 많은 점에서 힘들어하고 있다. 한국교회는 북한을 향한 두 시선으로 향방을 잃은 채 세상의 소금과 빛이 되기는 고사하고 위기를 만나 표류하고 있다. 어떻게 해야 한국교회는 남북통일을 위한 선한 역할을 할 수 있을까? 먼저 한국교회는 개혁신학(The Reformed Theology)의 정체성을 확고히 하고, 분단 시대 독일교회의 역사적 지혜 디아코니아를 가져오기를 소망한다. 아울러 남북의 끝없는 긴장과 갈등을 끝내기 위해 한국교회는 평화의 왕 예수님의 평화를 분명히 인식하고, 갈등의 땅 한반도에서 평화의 사도의 역할을 감당해야 하겠다.
The following essay aims to do for the next step for the Reunification of the South Korean church, in light of the 30th anniversary of Germany’s reunification. Germany is seen as a global model for reunification. On the contrary, the Koreas remain the only nations who continue to struggle. Instead of fulfilling its calling to be “salt and light” of the south Korean Church to its North Korean neighbor. How can the South Korean church play its integral part in seeing reunification? I suggest that the South Korean church must first firmly grab hold of Reformed Theology, and second, emulate the German church’s diakonia in its historical efforts in reunifying its country. Additionally, to bring an end to endless nervousness and conflict between the two Koreas, the South Korean church must recognize Jesus, who is the Prince of Peace, and the South Korean church must become the ambassador of peace for both nations.
