본 논문은 조선후기 병법서인 『武藝圖譜通志』 중 銳刀의 문장 구조 및 그에 따른 실제 자세와 본국검과의 연관성을 연구한 것이다. 예도의 경우는 ‘初習’이라고 할 만큼 칼을 수련함에 있어 가장 기초가 되는 단순한 동작인 주로 칼을 접었다가 공격하는 움직임이나 공격하였다가 겨누는 방식으로 지극히 단순한 자세로 구성되어 있을 알 수 있었다. 좀 더 구체적으로 살펴보면, 예도의 전체 문장구조는 가장 먼저 해당 자세에 대한 모습을 설명하고, 바로 이어 이 방법으로 어느 부분 혹은 어떤 공격을 할 수 있는가에 대한 가능성을 설명하고 있다. 그리고 실제 움직임에 대한 설명을 첫 자세에서 다음 자세로 움직일 때 어떤 손과 발을 사용하고 어떻게 움직여 어떤 보법으로 마지막 자세를 하는지 설명하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 또한 『武藝諸譜飜譯續集』을 비롯한 여러가지 무예서에서 새롭게 무예 자세 명칭을 만들어야 할 경우 그 동작의 유사성을 바탕으로 새로운 만든 자세의 명칭을 차용했다는 부분을 확인하였다. 이를 바탕으로 본국검에서 예도의 명칭과 일치되는 자세 중 해당 자세에 대한 설명이 소략하거나, 없을 경우에는 예도에서 그 동작설명을 차용하여 설명하는 것이 가능하다는 것을 확인하였다. 예를 들면, 朝天勢, 左挾獸頭勢, 白猿出洞勢의 경우는 예도의 동작설명을 바탕으로 추가하면 공방기법에 따라 자연스러운 연결세가 가능함을 알 수 있었다.
In this paper, I study the sentence structure of the martial arts book 『Muyedobotongji(武藝圖譜通志)』 「Yedo(銳刀)」 in the Joseon era and the actual posture of it. In addition, it is a study of the correlation with 「Bonguggeom(本國劍)」. In the case of 「Yedo」, it is the simplest movement that is the most basic in training a knife called ‘Chosp(Basic training)’. The mainly way of movement, it’s basic attacked and defended, It was composed of a very simple posture. More specifically, If analysis the structure of the sentence 「Yedo」. First sentence describes its posture. Second, it explains the possibilities of which parts or attacks can be carried out in this way. Thirdly, it is an explanation of the actual movement. It was able to find out what step method was used to explain the final posture when moving from the first posture to the next posture. In addition, when creating a new martial arts posture name in some martial arts books including 「Bonguggeom」, confirmed that the name of the newly created posture was borrowed based on the similarity of the movements. Based on this, if there is insufficient explanation of the corresponding posture of the posture that matches the name of 「Yedo」 in 「Bonguggeom」, or if it does not exist, Borrowed the explanation of that action with 「Yedo」. For example, in the case of Jocheonse(朝天勢), Jwahyeobsuduse(左挾獸頭勢) and Baegwonchuldongse(白猿出洞勢), it was found that a natural connection posture is possible when added based on the description of the operation.
