이 논문은 「져부인젼」을 텍스트로 삼아 부의 축적에 내재되어 있는 관념과 여성의식에 대해 고찰해 본 것이다. 주지하다시피 「져부인젼」은 규방가사에서 고소설로 장르 전환이 이루어진 작품으로 열녀인 져부인과 악녀인 뽈똥어미를 등장시켜 복선화음이라는 주제를 구현하고 있다. 그러나 두 여성의 상반된 행위는 재물의 축적 여부에 따라 행복과 불행으로 나타나고 있다는 점에서 부의 축적 여부는 이 작품을 이해하는 핵심적인 원리라고 할 수 있다. 이러한 관점에서 부의 축적에 내재되어 있는 관념을 살펴보면 이상적인 열녀의 조건으로 제시되어 있다는 점과 선행의 동기로 활용되고 있음을 알 수 있다. 일찍이 열녀는 수절이나 순절, 절사를 통해 일부종사한 여성에게 부여되던 용어였다. 그러나 「져부인젼」은 이러한 전통과는 다른 새로운 열녀상을 제시하고 있다. 즉 단기간에 많은 부를 축적하여 적빈한 가문을 일으킨 져부인을 이상적인 열녀로 제시함으로써 기존의 관념과는 다른 변화를 보여주고 있는 것이다. 또한 부의 축적은 유교에서 권장하는 선을 행하여 공덕을 쌓아야 가능하다는 점에서 나눔과 공존에 기초한 교화의 소재로 활용되고 있음을 알 수 있다. 한편 부의 축적을 통해 져부인이 보여준 인간다운 삶의 실현은 가부장제사회에서 출가한 여성들에게 가해진 뿌리 깊은 차별을 극복한 경우라고 할 수 있다. 부녀자들은 재물을 모으고 자식과 남편을 뒷바라지하는 등 집안을 일으키는 실질적인 주체로 활약하고 있지만 제도적 모순으로 인해 단지 남성들을 위한 조력자로 인식되고 있다. 또한 여성들은 주체적인 삶을 살 수 없었을 뿐만 아니라 노복보다도 못한 존재로 취급되고 있는데, 축첩제도로 인한 비참한 가정의 제시는 여성들에게 가해지는 차별의 시정을 주문하는 근거로 활용되고 있다.
The study deeply considers what wealth means and female consciousness based on [Jeobuin-jeon]. Basically, the [Jeobuin-jeon] realizes Didacticism by casting two characters ‘Jeobuin’ who is a virtuous woman and ‘Bbulddong-ami’ who symbolizes evil. On the basis of that concept, the different results coming from how much they accumulate wealth represent outwardly virtues but also it is the point to fully understand the real message in this novel. From that point of view, [Jeobuin-jeon] presents conditions for being virtuous women and the way to approach goodness in Confucianism. On the other hand, [Jeobuin-jeon] shows a fact that women are denied because of Confucianism in the process of emphasizing the importance of virtues in accordance with saving or wasting wealth. Shortly, women are granted limited role being a supporter for men on account of disadvantages in the social system even though they actually save wealth and lead men make a success as a main character in a family. These advantages reveal miserable life of women and also appeal paradigm shift toward the system so as to induce new recognition about status of women with criticizing the flawed social system.
