The purpose of this study is to explore the factors affecting Koreans’ intention to travel abroad after the COVID-19 pandemic by applying an Extended Model of Goal-directed Behavior which is added perceived risk of COVID-19. A survey was conducted from July 5 to 10, 2020 for Koreans with overseas travel experience, and the collected 315 copies of data were tested using the SPSS 24 program. The results show that desire to travel abroad was the most important variable in predicting overseas travel intention, and the anticipated positive emotion was the key factor that had significant effect on this desire. However, despite of the severity of COVID-19 pandemic, perceived risk of COVID-19 did not appear to have a significant effect on desire and intention to travel abroad. To see the clear effect of perceived risk of COVID-19, a longitudinal analysis is going to be required.
