이상과 백민석은 각 시대에서 가장 실험적인 소설을 쓴 대표적인 작가로 분류할 수있으며, 이들의 소설 중 「지주회시鼅鼄會豕」와 「음악인 협동조합 3」은 각 작가의 실험성을 대표하는 작품이다. 본고에서는 두 소설을 각 작가의 민담적 형식의 대표작으로 보고, 두 소설에 나타난 현실에 대한 저항이나 비판으로 해석할 수 없는 자장을 분석하고자 하였다. 이런 이유로 민담을 기원과 무관한 서사로 분석한 맑스 뤼튀의 논의에 기대어, 민담의 형식적 특성에 기반하여 두 소설을 분석하였다. 민담의 형식적 특성인 일차원성과 극단성을 통해, 이해와 설명을 근간으로 하는 근대에 반하는 서사를이해하고 민담의 형식이 현대 소설에서 갖는 미학적 의의를 밝히고자 했다. 두 소설이 능동적으로 오물의 물질성을 지속하고자 함을 밝혔다. 이상의 「지주 회시鼅鼄會豕」에서는 확신의 언표로 구성되는 일차원성이 물질적 비현실성을 만들며 경제-정동의 언표를 보여준다. 서로를 착취하는 부부관계는 비현실적인 물질성으로 보여주지만, 인간이 거미가 되는 비현실적인 물질성에 대해 의문을 갖거나해명하려 하지 않음으로써 일차원성의 세계가 경제와 정동의 다른 질서를 보여줌을 밝혔다. 또한 사회와 개인의 구조가 복합적으로 작동하여 이루어지는 부부관계가 극단적으로 훼손되는 언표를 제시하여 능동적 무능이 보여주는 희망을 밝혔다. 백민석의 「음악인 협동조합 3」에서는 과학적 언표로 서술되는 비과학적인 물질성의 기원에 대해 의문을 갖지 않음으로 형성되는 일차원성을 밝혔다. 이와 같은 비과학적인 일차원성은 근대 사회를 지탱하는 이성중심주의의 세계에 대한 해석할 수 없는 형태의 능동적 저능이다. 또한 극단적인 사회적 언표로 보여주는 저능은 원인이 설명되지 않는 능동적인 저능이며, 이것이 완전히 해석될 수 없는 오물과 같은 증언일 수 있음을 밝혔다. 이와 같이 이상의 「지주회시鼅鼄會豕」에서 나타나는 능동적인 무능과 백민석의「음악인 협동조합 3」에서 나타나는 능동적인 저능은, 벤야민의 꼽추 난쟁이를 참고할 때 근대로 환원되지 않는 미학으로 이해할 수 있음을 밝혔다. 근대에 대한 비판의 도구가 아닌 가능성으로서의 오물의 상태는 지혜이지만 근대의 질서로 이해할 수 없는 지혜를 담보함을 보였다. 이와 같은 가능성은 대중/지식인 그리고 대중성/계몽성에 대한 대립적인 논의를 가로지르는 지점이 될 수 있음을 밝혔다.
Lee Sang and Baek Min-seok can be classified asrepresentative writers who wrote the most experimental novels in each period.Among their novels, Musician cooperative 3 and Jijuhoesi-Apig meets a spider are also representative of each writer's experimentalnature, and at the same time, these two works are representatives of folkloreform. Both novels have a surplus that cannot interpret resistance or criticismagainst reality of modern. For this reason, I analyzedthe two novels based on the formal characteristics of the folk tales, leaningon Marx Rütü's discussion, which analyzed folk tales as narratives unrelated toworld’s origins. Through the formal characteristics of folk tales, theone-dimensionality and extremity, we tried to understand the narrative againstthe modern era based on understanding and explanation, and to clarify theaesthetic significance of folk tales in modern short stories. It was revealed that the two novels actively seek to sustain the materiality of filth. In the above Jijuhoesi-A pig meets a spider, the one-dimensionality createsmaterial unreality and shows the words of economy-affectiveness. It wasrevealed that the marital relationship that exploits each other was shown asunrealistic materiality by not questioning or attempting to clarify suchunrealistic materiality. It was revealed that the relationship between economicexploitation described by the statement of affirmation was demonstrated asfilth. In addition, it revealed the hope of active incompetence by presenting astatement that the marital relationship, which is formed by the complexoperation of society and individual structures, is extremely damaged. In Baek Min-seok's "Music Cooperative 3", it was revealed that the one-dimensionality made contradictory to scientific statements shows unscientific materiality. Such unscientific materiality is an inexplicable form of active idiocy for the world ofrationalism that supports modern society. It was also revealed that the idiocyshown by extreme social statements is an active idiocy whose cause is notexplained, and that this may be a filth-like testimony that cannot be fullyinterpreted. As described above, the active incompetence that appears in the above Jijuhoesi-A pig meets a spider and theactive idiocy in Baek Min-seok’s Musiciancooperative 3 can be understood as aesthetics that are not reducedto modern times and system when referring to Benjamin’s hunchback dwarf. It wasshown that the state of filth as a possibility, not as a tool for criticizingmodern times, is wisdom, but guarantees wisdom that cannot be understood by themodern order. It was revealed that such a possibility could be a point acrossthe confrontational discussions on the public/intellectual andpopular/enlightened.
