이 연구는 J. L. 모레노의 소시오메트리를 통한 공동체 치료의 원리와 방법을 제시하는 데에 목적이 있다. 모레노는 개인 중심의 관점을 넘어 개인 간감정의 흐름으로 형성되는 감정의 개인 외적 구조에 관한 ‘개인 간 심리학’을정립했으며, 이를 토대로 하여 공동체의 구조와 구성원 간 관계를 분석하고구성원을 이상적으로 배치하는 방법으로 소시오메트리를 제시했다. 소시오메트리는 공동체 구성원 중 누구도 배제되지 않으며 각자 최선을 다해 참여할기회를 제공받는 이상적인 공동체 구축을 목표로 한다. 모레노의 소시오메트리는 전 세계의 다양한 영역에서 관심받았으며, 국내에서도 1960년대부터 행정학, 경영학, 정신치료학, 교육학 등 여러 분야에서 연구되었다. 그러나 국내의 소시오메트리에 대한 선행 연구들은 개인의 성격 특성을 이해하기 위한 측정 도구나 집단구조의 분석 도구로만 소시오메트리를연구했다는 한계가 있다. 이는 개인 간 심리학이라는 모레노의 독창적인 이론에 대한 이해 없이 소시오메트리를 개인 심리학 영역에서 다룬 오류와, 소시오메트리가 배치로 완성되는 치료 방법론이라는 것을 간과한 결과이다. 모레노의 개인 간 심리학은 개인 간 감정의 흐름을 보여주는 텔레를 기초로하여, 텔레의 흐름으로 형성되는 감정의 개인 외적 구조를 탐구한다. 다양한소시오메트리적 기법들은 이 구조를 양적, 구조적, 질적으로 측정하며, 그 결과로 공동체 구성원들을 배치함으로써 소시오메트리가 완성된다. 결론적으로 소시오메트리는 개인 간 심리학의 원리를 바탕으로 공동체 구조의 분석과 구성원의 배치라는 방법을 통한 공동체 치료이다.
J. L. Moreno established ‘inter-personal psychology’ and presented sociometry asan method to analyze the structure of the community and to place members ideally. Sociometry aims to build an ideal community where no one would be cast out andall be given an opportunity to participate to the best of their abilities. Prior studies on Moreno’s sociometry in Korea have limitations that they have onlystudied sociometry from individual-centered perspective and as analysis tools of groupstructure. Moreno's inter-personal psychology is based on tele, which shows the flow ofemotions between individuals, and is the study of the structure of emotions formedby this tele flow. Various sociometric techniques measure this structure quantitatively,structurally and qualitatively. Sociometry is a community assignment therapy basedon inter-personal psychology.
