본 연구는 서울시 서남권 자치구의 인구구조 차이를 고려한 지자체 다문화 교육의 개선방안을 도출하였다. 서울시 서남권 지역은 다문화 학생 중, 중도입국자의 비중이 매우 높은 지역으로 교육서비스를 제공하는 과정에서 언어 활용과 문화적 차이 등으로 인한 다양한 문제가 발생하고 있다. 본 연구는 해당 지역에서 다문화 학생의 비중이 상대적으로 높은 초･중･고등학교 교사를 대상으로 구체적인 경험과 의견을 반영하여 실질적 개선방안을 모색해 보고자 FGI를 실시하였다. 이를 통해 교육현장에서 인식하고 있는 다문화 교육의 문제점과 개선 방향, 그리고 기대효과 등을 도출하고자 하였으며, 조사한 내용을 바탕으로 해당 지역의 인구구조 변화에 대응할 수 있는 정책적 지원방안과 협력적 거버넌스 구축을 위한 대안을 제안하였다.
This study drew up measures to improve multicultural education in local governments, taking into account differences in the population structure of basic local governments in the southwestern part of Seoul. The southwestern part of Seoul is a region with a very high proportion of multicultural students and immigrant children that various problems arise due to language use and cultural differences in the process of providing educational services. This study investigated various problems in the field of education by utilizing focus group interview (FGI) for teachers in schools with a relatively high proportion of multicultural students among schools in the region. Based on the findings, the government also proposed policy support measures to respond to changes in the population structure in the region and alternatives for establishing cooperative governance.
