학교 평화교육은 분쟁과 갈등 해결을 위한 교육이기도 하지만, 평화의 가치를 지향하는 교육이 되어야 한다. 본 논문은 평화에 대한 기존의 전통 윤리학의 관점을 비판적으로 고찰하고, 평화가 관계에 기초한다는 나딩스의 평화교육관에 기초하여 배려윤리가 평화교육의 새로운 윤리학적 토대가 될 수 있음을 밝힌다. 나딩스에 따르면, 평화교육은 존중과 배려로 경청하는 법을 배우는 것에서 시작해, 열린 대화를 통해 비판적 사고를 연마하는 과정이 되어야 한다.
School peace education should be education that resolves violence and conflict, and at the same time, education that aims for the value of peace. This paper critically examines the critical review of traditional ethics on peace, and based on Nell Noddings' theory of peace education that peace is based on relationships, it reveals that caring ethics can be a new ethical foundation for peace education. According to Noddings, peace education should begin with learning to listen with respect and consideration, and should be a process of cultivating critical thinking through open dialogue.
