Objective: The purpose of this study is to classify couple communication patterns by using stroke, which is a communication concept in Transactional analysis(TA), and find specific stroke exchange methods and patterns unique to couples, and practically for counseling and education. Methods: In order to achieve the research purpose, 4 researchers participated indepth interviews of 14 total participants married male·female group and real marital couple group from Seoul, Gyeonggi, Honam and Gyeongbuk regions and the obtained data was analyzed by a consensus qualitative analysis method(CQR). Results: As a result of the analysis, a total of 21 affiliated categories were drawn in four domains of positive-unconditional stroke, positive-conditional stroke, negitive-unconditional stroke, and negative-conditional stroke in the stroke classification between couples. Conclusion: In this regard, the specific utilization and direction of follow-up studies were presented through discussion, and the implications and limitations of the study were also described. This study has significance that it classified the types of stroke suitable for Korean couples to improve practical in couple therapy and education, and contributed to provide basic data for marital studies through research results.
