본 논문은 청주 지역을 대상으로 한 지역학 연구의 일환으로 청주를 배경으로 창작된 집경시를 통해 청지의 지역적 특성을 살펴보았다. 청주를 배경으로 창작된 집경시는 모두 14종이며 대부분의 작품이 17C-18C초에 창작되었다. 이에 14종의 청주 집경시와 한국학종합DB에 수록된 자료 중 17세기~18세기 초반까지 창작된 전국의 집경시를 비교하여 청주 집경시의 지역적 특성을 살펴보았다. 집경시는 특정한 지역을 일련의 한시를 엮어 노래한 작품이다. 본고에서는 청주 집경시의 특징을 첫째, 陶淵明 code, 둘째, ‘釣魚’ code, 셋째, 현실 비판의 세 가지 측면에서 살펴보았다. 은거를 표방한 집경시에서 가장 많이 활용된 소재가 ‘도연명’과 ‘조어’이다. 일반적으로 집경시에서 도연명적 삶은 탈속한 전원 생활의 즐거움이나 소박한 흥취, 풍류 등이 부각되며, ‘釣魚’는 세속과 격절된 강호에서의 忘機와 閑興을 표상하는 코드로 사용되었다. 대부분의 은거를 표방한 집경시의 초점이 현실에 대한 관심이나 부조리한 현실에 대한 비판보다는 安貧樂道나 전원생활의 즐거움에 맞춰져 있는 것은 이 때문이다. 그런데 서울과 경기, 충청의 일부 지역에서는 이와는 성격이 다른 시들이 발견돼 주목된다. 이 지역 집경시 중에는 도연명 code 중 출처의리, 조어 code 중 강태공의 出仕와 治世, 부조리한 현실에 대한 비판에 초점을 맞춘 작품들이 있다. 청주 집경시에는 위 세 가지 특징이 모두 나타난다. 그런데 청주 이외의 지역에서는 이런 작품들이 모두 서울, 경기 지역의 집경시나 중앙에서 관료생활을 하다가 정치적 환란으로 뜻을 접은 작가들에 의해서 창작되었다. 이런 점에서 청주 집경시는 영호남의 집경시와 비교하여 서울, 경기 지역의 특성을 상대적으로 강하게 가지고 있음을 알 수 있다. 청주 집경시의 이와 같은 특징은 당시 청주가 중앙과 지방의 경계라는 지리적 특성과 조선후기 정치권력의 근거지였다는 정치적 특징과 관련이 깊은 것으로 보인다.
The aim of this paper is to examine the regional characteristics of Cheongju Scene Collecting Poetry(SCP) as a part of regional studies. The regional SCP is a series of poems created by scholars who were segregated from political circles. The identified Cheongju SCP are 14, mostly created in 17-18C. Therefore, So I compared them with another regional works of the same period. The comparison items reviewed in this paper are : first, the prosperity of Tao Yuan-ming‘s life, second, the meaning of ‘Fishing’, and third, interest in the reality. The most frequently used materials for singing their recluse lives are ‘Tao Yuan-ming’ and ‘Fishing’. The most notable aspects among the life of Tao Yuan-ming are pleasure and simple enjoyment of rural life etc. And the ‘Fishing’ was used as a code to express leisurely excitement or free from the desires in rural life isolated from the world. It is for this reason that most of the SCP that sings around the residence ‘安貧樂道(Making pleasure by following Confucius' teachings without psychological agitation, even in difficult circumstances) rather than interest or criticism of the absurd reality. However, it is noted that some poems using different meanings of Tao Yuan-ming and Fishing are found in Seoul, Gyeonggi, and some regions of Chungcheong. In these poems there are works that focused on the fidelity or political employment and retirement of Tao Yuan-ming, Kang Tae-gong's ‘Fishing’ related to the desires of employment and rule, absurd reality. In Cheongju SCP all three phenomena are found. This characteristic of Cheongju SCP seems to be deeply related to the geographical characteristics of Cheongju as the boundary between the central and provincial regions and the base of central political power in the late Joseon Dynasty.
