본 연구는 1990년대 한국의 도시시(urban poetry)를 통해 시인들이 포착한 도시의문제적인 면모를 살펴보고, 도시시의 가능성과 도시의 윤리에 관해 논의하고자 한다. 현대 자본주의의 삶과 도시의 삶은 일치하기에, 자본주의 문제는 곧 도시의 문제로 나타난다. 현대 도시에서의 삶은 타자를 인정하지 않고 배제하는 비윤리성을 가속화한다. 도시시는 미적 담론을 통해 사람들로 하여금 자신을 둘러싼 이러한 문제적 맥락들을 근본적으로 고민하게끔 유도하며, 따라서 이는 ‘시민(주체)성’을 함양하는 데 주효한 방법이라고 할 수 있다. 도시는 일차적으로 장소 및 공간과 연관되고, 따라서 다른무엇보다 건축과 밀접한 관련을 맺는다. 근대 이후 도시에 있어서 ‘홈 파인 공간’에 의한, ‘홈 파인 공간’을 위한, ‘홈 파인 공간’의 건축은 하나의 스테레오타입이었다. 홈 파인 공간은 일정한 기능을 하는 ‘기관’이 가득 들어찬 공간을 구축하며, 따라서 ‘(규격화된) 광학적 건축’을 적극적으로 지향한다. 이에 반하는 또 다른 공간과 건축은 ‘매끈한 공간’에 의한, ‘매끈한 공간’을 위한, ‘매끈한 공간’의 건축, 즉 촉각적 건축이다. 이는 다르게 말해 유동하고 이동하고 변화를 거듭하는 공간을 만들어내는 건축이다. 이러한 공간에서 끊임없이 새로운 접촉점들이 생성되며, 새로운 관계 또한 형성된다. 이에 따라 도시가 윤리적인 공간이 되는 방법에는 두 가지가 있음이 드러난다. 하나는광학적 공간의 구축을 지향하는 현대 도시의 폐해를 자각하고 장소와의 관계를 회복하기 위해 촉지적 건축과 도시 풍경을 조성하는 것이며, 다른 하나는 장소와 빌딩 타입 등에 종횡으로, 그리고 반복적으로 연결･접속함으로써 장소에서 헤테로토피아를읽어내려는 노력이다. 도시시는 후자를 실현하는 데 있어서 하나의 방법이 될 수 있다. 본고의 논의는 문학과 건축학, 그리고 사회과학과의 융합적 연구로서, 1990년대의대표적인 도시시 텍스트를 분석함으로써 문학으로서의 도시시에 관한 또 다른 논의의장을 열어주고, 더 나아가 우리가 도시에서의 삶과 공동체 형성에 있어서 어떤 점을고려해야 할 것인가를 자각하는 데 도움을 줄 것으로 기대한다.
As the city expands and the lives in it become more complex, it becomes a question of whether a communal society will be possible. Unless superhuman life is the natural future, communities can still be a hot topic. One of the causes of the situation in which economic inequality, alienation and even life-threatening pollution have to be dealt with is, ironically, a mutually reciprocal relationship between neoliberalism and super-personalization. In this situation, a plan to create an alternative is based on mutual recognition and solidarity among citizens. ‘Recognition’ is only possible when cities and citizens can build other people's space. At this time, ‘the batter’ can be specified in an instant, that is, it is not an entity. The other depends on the time and space and the context of meaning, and even ‘I’ can be the other. The question is whether it will be possible to take an attitude of recognition and affirmation rather than exclusion and denial when encountering such a situation. However, it is doubtful that life in a modern city makes us stand that way. This study examines the problematic aspects of cities captured by poets through urban poetry in the 1990s and discusses the possibility of urban poetry and the e thics o f cities through them. As the l ife of modern capitalism and the life of a city coincide, the problem of capitalism soon emerges as a p roblem o f the city . The urban poetry, which d eals w ith the aspects of the city, not only deals with the architecture of the city, but also tries to lay the foundation for the change of the city by considering and contemplating language and beginnings. The discussion in this paper is a convergent study of literature, architecture, and social science, which opens another forum for urban poetry as a literature. And furthermore, it is expected that it will help us to become aware of what to consider in life and community formation in cities.
