This study examined a difference between Koreans and Russians on perceptual correspondence between Russian consonants and that of Korean. To this end, the perceptual experiment was conducted to both Russian and Korean groups. As a result, on the perception of sonorants by both groups were the same while most of other consonants were different and complicated. Accordingly, the result of the experiment was arranged based on the Korean perception. And I examine the aspect of corresponding pairs of Korean and Russian consonants. There were /ㄴ(Н), ㅁ(М), ㄹ(Р/Л), ㄱ(Г), ㄷ(Д), ㅂ(Б), ㅍ(Ф), ㅎ(Х)/ that were expected to be easy to learn because Koreans and Russians perceived them very similarly. /ㅈ(Ж), ㅊ(Ч), ㅂ(В), ㅃ(П), ㅅ(Ш)/ were that Koreans have pairs of consonants with a 1:1 correspondence while Russians have not. /ㅅ:ㅆ(С), ㄲ:ㅋ(К), ㄸ:ㅌ(Т), ㅅ:ㅆ(Щ), ㅉ:ㅊ(Ц)/ were that are perceived as opposed to each other by Koreans and Russians or have 1:n correspondence to both Koreans and Russians. In addition, the experiment result showed that Koreans use voicing as a distinctive feature in place of the closed consonants’ burst.
