The objective of research is to study the view of family in Miyazaki Hayao's “Princess Mononoke”. This movie has been released in 1997, when a lot of youth problems arose in the chaos of values. And the historical background is Japan in the 15th century, when agriculture developed and the Japanese view of nature changed. Asitaka who had kicked out of his clan, love San who had been abandoned by his parents and raised by ‘Inugami’. The two became one and regenerated the dead forest. Here, I draw the theme that every human being deserves to be loved regardless of birth or status. Ashitaka had no blood family and Yakkuru, a mountain goat, was his only family. In the family of him, the pseudofamily view based on animals appeared. In the family of San, the pseudofamily view based on ‘Kami’ appeared. He and she chose to live separately in the village and in the mountains. Here, the defamily view of the separate living of the couple has appeared. It was considered that the director suggested human existence and family freedom.
