드라마 <녹두꽃>의 언어 텍스트 분석과 제작자 심층인터뷰를 통해서 방언 활용의 방식 또는 기준, 그리고 드라마 생산의 맥락을 탐색하고자 했다. 텍스트 분석 결과 드라마는 전라도 방언의 맛을 잘 살려서 호평을 받았지만, 드라마의 중심인물인 전봉준이 방언이 아니라 현대 표준어를 사용하는 등, 세 가지의 기준에 따라 표준어와 방언 사용을 구분함으로써 방언에 대한 왜곡된 관념을 증폭시킬 수 있다고 분석했다. 세 가지 기준은 ‘초영웅 : 아류영웅 사이의 구분’, ‘지식 가진 상층계급 : 낮은 지식의 하층계급의 구분’, ‘공식 : 비공식의 구분’이라는 이항대립이었다. 연출자와 작가와의 인터뷰를 통해서 두 제작 주체 간의 방언 활용을 둘러싼 대립이 있었으며, 작가의 의견을 연출자가 따르는 타협의 과정이 있었다는 것을 발견했다. 작가는 ‘지식 있는 양반 : 지식 없는 중·하인 사이의 구별’ 등의 방식에 따라 대본을 완성했다고 증언했으며, 드라마에서 더 많은 등장인물이 방언을 사용하게 했다는 자부심을 느낀 것으로 나타났다. 드라마의 방언 활용에 영향을 미치는 다양한 요인 중에 방송사 조직구성원들의 조직문화도 큰 영향을 미친다는 것을 발견했다. 연구자는 지역 감수성이라는 개념을 제안하며, 지역과 관련한 언어 활용에 신중을 기해야 한다고 주장하는 바이다.
In this research, I tried to find out the rules of dialect use and the context of drama production of SBS drama <Nokdu flower>. Even though drama got big applause from the active use of dialect, text analysis shows that there are some rules of dialects use, such as ‘Super hero : Sub hero’ opposition, ‘High grade by knowledge : Low grade by ignorance’ opposition and ‘Formal : Informal’ opposition. According to the rules, Chun Bong-Jun with formal attributes spoke in modern standard Korean instead of Cholla dialect, which could promote distorted representation of the dialect. After In-Depth-Interview I found that there was a struggle between director and writer, which ended with the negotiation to use the modern standard language for Chun instead of dialect. Writer already had his own rules in using dialect, which was almost coincided with the text analysis results. Writer felt strong pride in using active dialect also. There were many powers influencing on the use of dialect, such as producer diversity and production culture. I proposed ‘local sensitivity’ for discerning and discrete use of dialect in drama production.
