뮤지컬 <영웅>은 2009년 초연 이후 뮤지컬 <명성황후>의 뒤를 잇는 완성도 높은 국내 창작 뮤지컬로서 인정받고 있다. 대한민국 국민이라면 모두가 아는 안중근 의사의 삶을 그린 뮤지컬 <영웅>은 실존인물과 가상인물들을 통해 구성감 있는 이야기를 더하여 만들었고 안중근 의사의 영웅적인 면과 인간적인 면이 고르게 잘 표현되어 있다. 잃어버린 나라를 다시 찾으려는 한 젊은 청년의 뜨거운 삶이 지금을 살아가는 우리에게도 큰 영향을 준다. 본 논문에서는 영향력 있는 뮤지컬로 자리 잡은 뮤지컬 <영웅>을 통해 안중근 의사의 모습이 어떻게 그려졌는지 실존인물과 가상인물들의 관계를 통해 알아보았다. 또한 이 가상인물들이 부르는 최후의 노래를 분석해봄으로써 노랫말과 선율이 어떻게 조화를 이루며 스토리텔링 되었는지 살펴보았다. 그리고 이러한 점을 통해 뮤지컬 <영웅>이 10년이 넘었어도 계속 공연되는 완성도 높은 창작 뮤지컬임에 이 논문은 주목했다.
Since its premiere in 2009, the musical Hero, Empress Myeongseong is recognized as one of the most creative and best-quality musicals. The musical Hero, which depicts Ahn Jung-geun’s life as a Korean citizen, is composed of real and virtual characters and Ahn’s heroism and human warfare are evenly expressed. The account of a young man trying to find his lost country is highly influential. This paper discusses how Ahn Jung-geun is portrayed in the popular musical Hero by studying the relationship between real and virtual figures. Additionally, by analyzing the last song sung by these virtual figures, we consider how the lyrics and melody are harmonized and the storytelling unfolds. Through such novelty, the paper notes, the musical Hero has become a highly creative musical that continues to be performed for more than a decade.
