Infant baptism has been practiced from the beginning of Christian history and there have been a lot of discussions about the meaning of Infant baptism, particularly about the question “Is there salvation in infant baptism?” This article shows how the relationship between regeneration and infant baptism is discussed in early church Fathers, medieval church, reformers, and theologians in 20th century. And then John Wesley’s ‘baptismal regeneration’ is explored. To understand clearly Wesley’s view, his sacramental understanding of Baptismal regeneration which was influenced by Catholic and Anglican church and his evangelical understanding of regeneration which was influenced by Pietist and evangelicals is analyzed.
