하느님의 육화는 그리스도교의 중심 교의이다. 그것은 그리스도교 신앙의 전제이자 그리스도교 신학의 기초인 계시의 근간을 이루는 것이기도 하다. 사람이 되신 하느님의 말씀, 예수 그리스도가 바로 그 계시의 내용이며 중개자이고 완성이기 때문이다. 이 예수 그리스도, 사람이 되신 하느님의 탄생을 축하하고 기리는 축제가 바로 성탄절이다. 이 축제의 중심에는 인간을 구원하기 위하여, 하느님이 인간이 되셨다는 신앙이 자리하고 있다. 따라서 이 육화의 축제에 우리가 그리스도인으로 살아가는, 곧 우리가 신앙하는 현실의 중심이 있다. 왜냐하면 이 육화의 축제에서만 하느님의 신비가 인간에게 열리고, 인간이 신적인 본성에 참여하는 구원의 신비가 인간에게 약속되기 때문이다. 문제는 2000년 전, 베들레헴에서 태어난 그 가난한 아기가 (인간이되신) 하느님이며 우리를 구원할 구세주라는 성탄 메시지를 오늘의 그리스도인이 순전히 교리적으로 알고 있는 것이 아니라 실제로 체험하는가이다. 본고는 이에 따라 특별히 현대 일반 사회에서도 주목할 만한 중요한 축제인 성탄(절)의 신비와 의미는 본래 무엇인지, 그것이 복음서와 교회의 교의와 의식 속에 어떻게 나타나고, 그것을 그리스도인은 어떻게 이해하고 인식하여 자신의 삶 속에서 실제로 구현할 수 있는지 탐구한다. 그리고 이러한 과정을 통해 결국 성탄절이 우리에게 주는 가장 결정적 의미는 인간의 인간됨의 축제인 것에 있음을 밝힌다. 곧 성탄 축제의 중심에 있는 하느님의 인간됨이 인간의 인간화의 원형(原形)이 되는 것이다. 바로 성탄절에 그리스도인은 하느님이 인간이 되신 그 삶을 기뻐하고 축하하며, 그리스도인 자신도 기꺼이 그 삶을 살아갈 것을 메시지로 듣는다. 하느님이 인간이 되신 것을 우리가 축하하는 이유는 하느님이 인간이 되심으로써 참되고 완전한 인간 모습의 원형을 알게 됨과 동시에, 그렇게 하느님이 실제로 살고 보여 주신 바로 그 인간에 이를 때 비로소 우리가 구원에 이르게 됨을 깨닫고, 삶의 방향을 바로 찾게 되는 것에 있다. 결국 하느님의 육화는 동시에 인간의 참인간화의 표상이다. 그런 점에서 오로지 그것, ‘인간의 인간화’가 성탄절에 하느님의 육화 안에서 그 원천에서부터 인식되고 실행되어야 할, 그리스도인의 지상(至上) 과제이자 목표일 것이다.
The Incarnation of God is the central dogma of Christianity. It is also the basis of the revelation which is the premise of Christian faith and the foundation of Christian theology. This is because the Word of God who became a human being, Jesus Christ, is the content, the intermediary and the completion of revelation. Christmas is the feast that celebrates and honors the birth of Jesus Christ, God who became human. At the heart of this feast is the belief that God became human in order to save humanity. Therefore, in this feast of the Incarnation, there is the center of the reality in which we live as Christians. Only on the feast of the Incarnation God’s mystery is opened to human, and the mystery of salvation, in which man participates in the divine nature, is promised to human. The question is whether today’s Christians who know the doctrine about the Incarnation but do they actually experience the Christmas message that the poor baby who was born in Bethlehem 2,000 years ago, is God (who has become human) and the savior who will save us. Therefore, this study explores what the original meaning and the mystery of Christmas, which is an important festival that is especially noteworthy in modern general society. We look at how it appears in the Gospels, dogmas and rituals of the church, and how Christians can understand and recognize it and actually realize it in their own lives. And through this process, it finally clarifies that the most decisive meaning that Christmas gives us is that it is a feast of the humanization of the human being. In other words, the Incarnation of God is at the center of the Christmas Feast and it becomes the original form of humanization of the human being. On Christmas Day, Christians rejoice and celebrate God becoming human and they hear the message they themselves are willing to live that life. The reason why we celebrate the Incarnation is that we become aware of the true and complete archetype of the human being and at the same time, we realize that we will be saved, when we reach the very human being who God actually lived and showed us, and to find the right direction of our life. Finally, the Incarnation of God is at the same time a symbol of the true humanization of the human being. In that respect, the ‘humanization of the human being’ will be the supreme task and goal of the Christian, which should be recognized and implemented from the source of the Incarnation of God, which the christians celebrate at Christmas.
