이 연구의 목적은 고등학교 학생들의 영어 성취도에 대한 문제점들을 확인하고 직소 협동학습을 활용하여 학습자들의 영어 능력을 향상시키기 위함이다. 이를 위해 실험집단은 10주 동안 직소 협동학습을 적용하여 수업을 실시하였다. 이 연구자료를 분석하기 위해 영어영역 관련문제 20문항을 사용하여 실험을 실시하였다. 자료 분석방법은 통계 관련 프로그램인 SPSS 21.0의 대응표본 t검증을 사용하여 실행하였다. 그 결과 첫째 실험집단의 사전평가와 사후평가의 경우에는 사후평가의 학업성취도가 더 높게 나왔다. 그리고 두 번째 학생들의 영어 숙달도에 따른 성취도 검사에서는 상위, 중위, 하위 집단 모두 영어능력이 향상됨을 보였다. 이러한 연구 결과로 볼 때 직소 협동학습을 적용한 영어 수업은 전통적 강의방식의 영어수업보다 고등학생들의 영어 능력 향상에 효과가 있음을 알 수 있었다.
The purpose of this study is to research high school students’ English problems and to suggest how to improve their English competence through the Jigsaw cooperative learning. The experimental group had been taught through Jigsaw cooperative learning for 10 weeks. The data needed for this study was obtained by the test paper with 20 questions about the English questionaire. The data analyzing method were the response sample t-test through the statistics program SPSS 21.0. The result are as follows. First, the mean score for the post test was significant higher than that of pretest. Second, it was found that there were improved in the high, intermediate and low levels of English proficiency. From the results of this study, we found that the use of Jigsaw cooperative learning was more effective in improving the high school students’ English competence than the use of the traditional English lesson.
