이 연구는 중학생 민주시민역량 증진을 위한 목적으로 인성과 문화다양성 요인을 중심으로 프로그램 효과를 밝히고자 하였다. 프로그램의 주요 내용으로는 인성(성실, 배려와 소통, 책임)과 문화다양성(다문화수용성, 다문화민감성, 다문화개방성) 요소로 12회기 프로그램으로 구성하였다. 연구대상은 전북지역의 2개 중학교 1학년 84명을 대상으로 「시민과 자치」와 「민주시민교육」과목 신청자 중 희망자를 대상으로 수업을 실시하였다. 프로그램은 12주 동안 운영되었으며, 사후검사는 프로그램 후, 추후검사는 프로그램 종료 30일 후에 실시하였다. 프로그램에 대한 효과를 분석한 결과 중학생의 인성과 문화다양성 요인에 있어서 사전검사에 비해서 사후 및 추후검사에 있어서 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 중학생 민주시민 교육프로그램은 인성과 문화다양성 증진에 있어서 효과가 있었다. 학교 민주시민교육은 개개인의 역량 증진과 정체성 확립에 도움이 될 것이다. 따라서 학교에서 민주시민성을 함양하여 건강한 성인이 될 수 있도록 해야 한다. 청소년기에 민주시민교육을 통하여 상황을 올바로 인식하고 합리적 판단을 내리며 정당한 행위를 할 수 있는 능력을 기르도록 해야 한다. 민주시민교육 프로그램을 적용한 결과 중학생의 인성과 문화다양성 함양에 지속적인 효과가 있었다. 따라서 인성과 문화다양성 뿐만 아니라 다양한 요소들을 포함하는 민주시민교육프로그램이 개발 및 운영될 필요가 있다.
The purpose of the study is to promote the democratic civic capacity of middle school students and to reveal the effectiveness of the program, focusing on factors of personality and cultural diversity. The main contents of the program consisted of 12th-term programs with elements of personality (sincerity, consideration and communication, responsibility) and cultural diversity (multicultural acceptability, multicultural sensitivity, and multicultural openness). The subjects of the study were 84 first-year students from two middle schools in JeonBuk Province. who applied for "citizenship and autonomy" and "democratic citizenship education" subjects. The program ran for 12 weeks, followed by a post test and a subsequent test was conducted 30 days after the end of the program. An analysis of the effects of the program showed that compared to the pre-examination in the rationality and cultural diversity factors of middle school students, the results were effective in post and subsequent test. The Democratic Citizenship Education Program for Middle School Students has been effective in promoting personality and cultural diversity. The school democratic citizenship education will help to promote individual competence and establish identity. Therefore, they should foster democratic citizenship in schools so that they can become healthy adults. Through democratic civic education in adolescence, they should develop the ability to recognize the situation correctly, make rational judgments and do just things. The application of the Democratic Citizenship Education Program has had a lasting effect on the character and cultural diversity of middle school students. Therefore, Democratic Citizenship Education programs that include various factors as well as personality and cultural diversity need to be developed and operated.
