This article focuses on the transition from National Literature[Kokumin bungaku ron] to the Afro-Asian Writers' Conference movement (hereinafter abbreviated as AA Writers' Conference movement), which has been overlooked in the history of postwar Japanese literature, from the following two perspectives. First, I clarified the relationship between Kokumin bungaku ron and the literary movement of the AA Writers' Conference. Until recently, from Kokumin bungaku ron to the Afro-Asian Writers' Conference were more distinguished than similarities. It is a result of simplifying Kokumin bungaku ron as nationalism and the AA Writers' Conference Literature Movement as internationalism; however, the two shares internationalism which had emerged in the third world nations after the Second World War. Second, I delineated the meaning of Yoshie Hotta's commitment to the AA Writers' Literary Movement, focusing on its relation to Third World Literature. As the Cold War confrontation became increasingly serious, Hotta envisioned a new thoughts for Japan by placing Asia and Africa at the center of his thoughts. In short, Hotta sought to break free from the Cold War by positioning Japan as a part of the Third World. As described above, in order to deeply understand the development of Kokumin bungaku ron, it is necessary to consider its relation to the AA Writers' Literary Movement. It is also an effective way to draw the AA Writers' Literature Movement from the Postwar Japanese literature.
本稿では日本の戦後文学史において見過ごされてきた国民文学論からアジア・アフリカ作家会議（以下、AA作家会議に略称する）への転移過程を次の二つの観点から取り上げる。 一つ、国民文学論とAA作家会議文学運動の関連性を明らかにした。現在まで国民文学論とAA作家会議文学運動は類似性よりは断絶性の方が際立っていた。それは国民文学をナショナリズムとして、そしてAA作家会議文学運動を インターナショナリズムとして単純化した結果である。しかし、国民文学論からAA作家会議文学運動への変化は反省的な自己省察というよりは排他的ナショナリズムを超えたインターナショナルリズムの結合であるということから両者は似通っている。 二つ、堀田善衛のAA作家会議文学運動へのコミットが持つ意味を第三世界文学論との関連を中心に分析した。冷戦の対立が日増しに深刻化されている中、堀田はアジア・アフリカを思想の中心に置くことで新しい日本の未来像を描いていた。要するに、堀田は日本を第三世界の一部として位置づけることで 冷戦的な対立からの脱却を目指した。 以上のように、国民文学論の展開を深く理解するためにはAA作家会議文学運動との関連を考察する必要がある。それはAA作家会議文学運動を戦後的な水脈から汲み上げる場合も有効な方法である。
