이 논문은 17세기 조선 경학의 다양성을 조망하는 데 목적이 있다. 17세기 노론의 집권으로, 조선 경학은 주자학 심화의 길로 접어들고 있었다. 이로 인해서 17세기 조선에서는 그 누구도 주자학에 반하는 의견을 제시하기 힘들었다. 『사문록』이 문중 필사본으로만 전해졌다는 사실이 바로 그 정황 증거이다. 그런데 역설적이게도 『사문록』의 비전(秘傳)은 조선 경학의 다양성을 보여준다. 그 근거 자료가 바로 『사문록』, 「맹자기의」이다. 이는 다른 편들과 달리 최명길과 조익의 문답 형식으로 구성되어있다. 그리고 두 사람은 각각 양명학과 주자학의 입장에서 『맹자』를 이해한다. 「맹자기의」의 문답에 의거해보면, 최명길은 양명학과 견해를 같이 한다. 이에 반해 조익은 주자학의 관점에 서있다. 그리고 최명길은 50세를 전후해서 왕양명과 다소 다른 자신의 견해를 제시한다. 이 같은 점에 의거해보면, 근래 논란이 되었던 ‘17세기 조선 양명학의 거두는 조익인가? 아니면 최명길인가?’라는 문제에 해답을 찾을 수 있다. 또한 「맹자기의」는 17세기 조선 경학이 주자학 심화로만 나아간 것이 아니라 그 이면에 양명학의 수용과 극복이라는 문제의식이 있었음을 보여주는 문헌이라고 할 수 있다.
This paper aims at looking into the diversity of the 17th century Joseon's Confucian Classics thoughts. With Noron exercising its authority in the 17th century, Joseon's Confucian Classics thoughts were entering following the path to intensifying the Zhuzixue. This made people at that time difficult to oppose the Zhuzixue. This is proved by the The fact that “Samunlog” was handed down from generation to generation only as a copy of the Choe’s family’s manuscript. Paradoxically, the esoterica inside the book shows the diversity of Joseon’s Confucian Classics thoughts. A chapter called 'Maengjagiui' inside the book serves as an evidence. Unlike other chapters, 'Maengjagiui' is composed of a series of questions and answers from Choe Myung-gil and Jo Ik. Moreover, concerning the way to understand “Mencius”, one of them understanded from the perspective of Yangmingxue, while the other stood from the viewpoint of Zhuxixue. Base on those questions and answers in 'Maengjagiui', Choe Myung-gil had the same viewpoints as Yangmingxue, while Jo-ik stood at Zhuzixue’s side. Furthermore, Choe Myung-gil, at his age of 50, expressed opinions which were somewhat different from Yangming’s. Base on this examination, we can conclude that the prominent figure of Yangmingxue in the 17th century Joseon was Choe Myung-gil, but not Jo Ik. In addition, we can say that 'Maengjagiui' is a classic which shows that the 17th century Joseon Confucian Classics thoughts did not only develop into a more intensified Zhuzixue, but also included scholars’ awareness of problems about the acceptance and overcoming of Yangmingxue.
