본 연구는 그림책을 활용한 유아배려교육활동을 고안, 실시하여 유아의 배려행동, 언어표현력에 미치는 영향을 알아보는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 본 연구의 대상은 전라북도 I시에 소재한 W유치원 만 4세 학급의 유아 51명으로 한 학급의 유아 26명을 실험집단, 다른 학급의 유아 25명을 통제집단으로 임의 배정하였다. 자료 분석에는 SPSS 21.0을 사용하였으며, 사전・사후 검사 증가분에 대한 t검증과 공분산 분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과, 첫째 그림책을 활용한 유아배려교육활동은 유아의 자기에 대한 배려, 친밀한 타인에 대한 배려 행동, 자연 및 환경에 대한 배려 행동, 다양성 존중 등 모든 배려행동을 전반적으로 향상시켰다. 둘째, 그림책을 활용한 유아배려교육활동은 내용이 일치하는 이야기 꾸미기, 그림보고 연계성 있는 이야기 꾸미기 등 유아의 언어표현력을 전반적으로 향상시켰다. 이러한 결과는 그림책을 활용한 유아배려교육활동이 유아의 배려행동, 언어표현력을 향상시키는데 효과적임을 시사한다.
This study aims to look into the effect of a caring education activity using picture books devised and implemented for young children on their caring behaviors and linguistic expressions ability. This study targeted 51 preschoolers from a four-year-old children’s class of W kindergarten in I City, Jeollabuk-do. Among those, 26 random preschoolers from a class were designated as experimental group, and 25 preschoolers from another class were placed in a control group. For data analysis, SPSS 21.0 was used, and t-Test and Analysis of Covariance were conducted to measure increments of pre- and post-tests. The study results are as follows. First, the caring education activity for young children using picture books improved all categories of caring behaviors, such as children’s care for themselves, for close acquaintances, for nature and environment, and respect for diversity. Second, the caring education activity for young children using picture books improved overall children’s linguistic expressions ability including storytelling, which corresponded to contents and storytelling with connection, after watching pictures. These results imply that the caring education activity for young children using picture books is effective in enhancing children’s caring behaviors and linguistic expressions ability.
