본 논문은 바울의 주요 선교 전략으로 선교지 “재방문” 목회에 대한 성경적 근거를 찾아보는 논문이다. 바울의 선교 원리나 전략들이 다양한 학자들에 의해 논의되어 왔지만, 정작 바울이 취한 선교지 “재방문” 방법과 그를 통한 성도들에 대한 목회 부분은 지금까지 간과되어 왔다. 그러나 사도행전과 바울 서신들은 선교지 “재방문” 목회가 바울의 주요 선교 전략 중 가장 근본적인 방식이었음을 증거 해준다. 예를 들어, 누가는 바울의 전도여행을 기술하면서 근본적으로 모든 전도여행에 “재방문”의 모티브가 강하게 담겨져 있음을 드러냈다(제II장). 즉, 바울은 “재방문” 전도여행을 통해 이미 복음을 접한 성도들을 권면하고 굳게 세우는데 있었음을 누가는 분명히 기록했다. 또한 바울이 그의 서신들에서 “사도적 현존,” 곧 직접 방문, 대리자 파송 및 서신 발송의 방법으로 각 교회를 “재방문”하려는 시도를 했음이 드러난다(제III장). 비록 “사도적 현존”의 기능에 대한 여러 논의가 있을지라도, 근본적으로 이는 이미 설립된 교회를 “재방문” 목회하는 기능을 가지고 있었음이 드러난다. 이러한 사항들을 통해 볼 때, 바울은 선교 전략의 대원칙은 단순히 새로운 선교지의 개척하는 것에 있는 것이 아니라, 개척된 선교지를 지속적으로 “재방문”하여 그곳 성도들을 “목회”하는 것임이 드러난다. 오늘날 한국 교회의 선교가 재원지원, 예배당 건축, 단기 선교여행 등으로 외형적인 면에 치중되어 있는 환경에서 바울의 “재방문” 목회 선교 전략을 배움으로 한국 교회 선교 방향이 교회가 맡은 피선교지 교회를 책임지고 목양하는 방향으로 전환되어야 할 것을 제안한다.
This article aims to find out some textual grounds of a pastoral care of“revisiting” as one of main missional strategies of Paul. The Acts of Apostles and Paul’s epistles witness that the “revisiting ” to mission fields was the fundamental one of his mission strategies. For example, having described Paul’s missional journeys Luke marked the “revisiting”motif out in several passages(see chap. II); Luke revealed Paul’s pastoral intention to encourage and care those who had gotten the gospel already through describing Paul’s “revisiting” missional journeys. And in his epistles Paul was revealed to try to revisit churches that he evangelized through the method of the “apostolic parousia”which consisted of Paul’s personal visit, dispatching embassies and sending letters(see chap. III). Although there are some opinions of different functions of the “apostolic parousia,” this aimed to practice pastoral care for revisited churches by Paul. Considering these things, it is clear that Paul’s main missional strategy did not simply plant churches, but nurtured those churches through continuous pastoral care by revisiting planted churches. Today’s mission strategies of Korean churches are focusing to provide financial aid or build facilities(including church building) or manage a short-term mission journey. But Paul teaches today’s churches that the mission should also be a pastoral care to those who receive the gospel, not simply investing material support. Keeping this in mind, I suggest, Korean churches should begin practice missional pastoral care according to Paul’s suggestions, i.e. continuous visit of mother church to mission field, (joint) ministry through commissioned missionary and exchanges through letter or other media.
