본고의 목적은 현행 북한의 국어 교과서에 나타난 ‘존경 표현’의 교육 내용을 분석하는 것이다. 이를 위해 먼저, ‘존경 표현’에 관여하는 문법 요소인 맺음토와 존경토를 검토한다. 다음으로, 김정은 집권기에 개정된 국어 교과서에 제시된 교육 내용을 검토한다. 앞서 살펴 본 맺음토와 존경토의 개념과 갈래 및 용례, 그리고 교육강령에 제시된 ‘존경 표현’의 교수·학습 항목이 교과서 안에서 교수·학습 내용으로 구현된 양상을 면밀히 고찰한다. 맺음토와 존경토에 초점을 두고 북한의 국어 교과서에 나타난 ‘존경 표현’ 교육 내용을 살펴본 결과, 대체로 남한의 그것과 유사한 점이 많았다. 다만, 사회 체제의 특수성으로 인해 특정 개인에 대한 숭배의 태도를 ‘존경 표현’의 의무적·강제적 사용으로 규정하고 있다는 데서 남북한의 차이가 뚜렷이 드러났다.
The purpose of the study is to analyze the educational content of ‘expression of respect’ in current North Korea’s Korean language textbooks. First, we examine the grammatical elements involved in 'expression of respect', the ending and the respect. Next, we review the contents of the education presented in the revised North Korea’s Korean language textbooks during Kim Jong-un’s reign. We closely examine the aspects of teaching and learning in the ‘expression of respect’ as the educational content of the textbook. We looked at the contents of education in which North Korea’s Korean language textbooks appeared, and found that they were generally similar to those of South Korea. However, the difference between the two Koreas was evident in that North defined the attitude of worship toward its leader as a compulsory use of ‘expression of respect’ due to the peculiarities of the social system.
