본 논문은 주로 어휘 분해와 경동사 통사 이론의 배경과 현황에 대해 고찰하였으며, 특히 일부 중문 및 영문 문헌의 연구 성과를 중점적으로 소개하였다. 이러한 성과는 단순 술어(simplex predicates), 어순 및 통사 성분의 복잡한 속성, 응용(applicative) 논항 및 비전형 논항의 통사 위치, 부사성 수식어의 관할역 및 어휘 의미와 통사 구조 간의 투사에 대한 이해에 많은 도움을 준다. 본 논문의 마지막 부분에서는 중국어 차어휘성(sub-lexical) 부사의 수식현상 및 그 적절한 해석의 추론 문제에 대하여 논의하였다.
This paper provides a review of the background and recent developments in the theory of lexical decomposition and light verb syntax, highlighting the results of some works (in English and Chinese) that have aided our understanding of the complex nature of simplex predicates, word order and syntactic constituency, the position of applicative and non-canonical arguments, the scope of adverbial modification, and the mapping between lexical semantics and syntactic structure. The final section includes some preliminary remarks on sub-lexical modification by adverbs in Chinese and the problem of deriving the appropriate readings.
