본고는 한국여성문학학회에서 고전문학 연구의 위상과 과제에 대해 살펴보고자 해당 학술지인 『여성문학연구』를 중심으로, 고전문학 연구 논문의 경향과 의의를 도출하고, 선택 집중된 기획 연구의 성과에서 더 나아가 연구자와 연구 대상을 확장해야 할 필요성을 강조하고 그 방안을 제안해 보았다. 『여성문학연구』에서 고전문학 관련 논문은 전체의 15% 정도를 차지하지만, 여성문학사 서술이나 여성의 글쓰기와 문학 활동에 대해서는 여성주의 관점에서 집적된 연구들을 아우르며 연구 담론을 선도해가고 있었고, 고전문학 연구자들에 의한 학문 장의 연결은 고전부터 현대까지 문학·문화 현상들을 통시적으로 살피며 이론화하도록 했다. 즉 『여성문학연구』를 통한 고전문학 연구는 우리 토대에서 여성문학·문학 현상·글쓰기 이론을 사적으로 이으면서 보편화하는 데에 기여하고 있었다. 한국여성문학학회에서 고전문학 연구는 기획 주제로 선택되고 집중되면서 집약적인 성과를 이룰 수 있었는데, 그 과정에서 여성주의라는 방법론과 주제가고전 연구자들에게 시대와 장르를 확장하도록 이끌었고, 『여성문학연구』는 이러한 문제의식을 독려하며 활발히 연구할 수 있는 장을 제공했다. 그러므로 이러한 도전과 시도가 보다 많은 연구자들에 의해 수행되어 우리 문학 연구가 풍성해지고 사회적 실천 의의도 확보하기 위해서는 여성주의 관점에서 고전을 공부하는 학문후속세대를 북돋우고, 문학사 및 문학이론과 같은 장기적 연구를 지속시키며, 여성문학 관련 연구 자료나 사업 현황에 관심을 갖고 연구 대상도 넓혀야한다. 인구감소와 연구 환경 변화에 따라 후속 세대들이 학술적 지원을 기대하면서 연구를 지속하기 힘든 상황에서도 고전 전공 연구자들의 관심과 참여를 이끌어가기 위해서는 응용 학문 연구자들과 연계하거나 고전과 현대를 잇는 시기와 대상에 대하여 보다 전공을 넘나들며 관심을 모을 필요가 있다. 관련 학문·학회간 연계와 소통을 추진할 때, 고전에서 이어지는 현재의 문학과 문화가 더욱 입체적으로 구성되면서 우리들의 원형적 사고와 감정도 총체적으로 파악될 것이다. 한국여성문학학회에서 고전 연구 역시 지난 20년간의 성취에 더하여 여성주의 시각으로 고전과 현대, 장르의 경계를 확장하며 그 실천적 의의가 지속되기를 기대한다.
This thesis examines the status and tasks of classical studies at the Academic Society of Feminism and Korean Literature. Therefore, I found the tendency and significance of the research paper of classical literature in 『Feminism and Korean Literature』. Through this, the planning theme selected and concentrated by the academic society showed good results, but I suggested that the researcher and research subject should be expanded further. In 『Feminism and Korean Literature』, papers related to classical literature account for about 15% of all papers. Despite relatively few classical research papers, topics such as women’s literature and women’s writing are ahead of other journals. Classical scholars were able to connect and discuss scholarly fields to study and theorize literary and cultural phenomena from classical to contemporary times. In other words, the study of classical literature in 『Feminism and Korean Literature』 has contributed to the generalization of theories through the history of female literature, literary phenomena and writing theories on our foundation. In the Korean Women’s Literature Association, the study of classical literature achieved intensive results by planning themes. Classical researchers extended the age and genre of research with feminist methodologies and themes, and 『Feminism and Korean Literature』 was a space that encouraged their research. Therefore, this challenge must be carried out by more researchers. This will enrich our literary research and ensure the significance of academic social practice. To this end, this Association should encourage future generations to study classics in feminism, continue long-term research such as the history of women’s literature and theories of women’s literature, and be interested in researching women’s culture materials and academic projects. As the population decreases and the research environment changes, it is difficult for future generations to continue research, hoping for academic support. In order to induce the participation of classical researchers, it is necessary to connect with applied scholars or to study the subjects in which classical and contemporary interests coexist. When communicating with related disciplines or conferences, the current literature following the classics will be better understood. Our original thoughts and feelings will also be grasped. It is hoped that the Academic Society of Feminism and Korean Literature will continue its practical significance as an open field of study that crosses the boundaries of classical, modern and genre from a feminist perspective.
