This study analyzes Chekhov’s ‘the Bear (1923)’ & Andreyev’s ‘He Who Gets Slapped (1927)’ based on Russian plays out of ‘Toweolhoe’ & ‘General Art Association’ in the 1920s. Through this, I would like to figure out what position of acceptance literature and the characteristics of modern drama. The unfinished revolution and the trauma of colonial experience were remained thru the independence movement of 1919. It was constant motivation for the people who created the modern drama. In the series of modern theater performances of Russian plays during this period are constantly demonstrated and served as a symbol of the independence movement of 1919. The narrative of a play denies its previous values or it can lead to an unhappy clown’s life which throws himself into the humorous life for shaking the foundations with laughter, unpredictable situations and hostility. The sign that the play represents roughly by the narratives is persecution, hatred, resignation and disgust as a result of catastrophic and downfall, but it motivates the audience to see the result of replacing the anxiety through the filter with the public sense. Thus, the play is the result of its the symbol of 1919 experience.
