본 연구의 목적은 백제부흥군의 부흥운동 전개과정을 분석하여 교훈을 얻고 미래를 준비하는 계기로 삼고자 하는데 있다. 특히 의제로 부각하고자 하는 부분은 백제부흥군의 역사를 부흥군과 이별을 의미하는 별신제로 볼 것이 아니라 호국의 넋을 위로해주는 충혼제로 승화시켜 새로운 역사적 관점으로 해석하고 미래를 준비해야 한다는 점이다. 본 연구는 과거 백제부흥군의 전쟁과정과 주변국과의 역학관계를 되짚어 보고 현대적 관점으로 재해석 하여 교훈을얻고자 한다. 특히 단순히 독립운동사적인 의미로서가 아니라 군사학적 의미와 함의는 무엇인지를 살펴보고 민족통합을 위한 호국보훈의 새로운 해석을 하고자 한다. 백제부흥군의 항전은 백제인들의 호국의식의 발로라는 점이고 역사에서 배우지 못하는 민족은 불투명한 미래를 감당해야 된다는 점을 다시 한 번 강조한다. 결론에서 제기하고자 하는 부분은 미완성의 독립운동사에 대한 것이다. 역사적 사례에서 증명된 바와 같이 백제부흥군의 전몰자들, 일제에항거한 민족의 지도자들, 그리고 6.25전쟁에서 산화한 영웅들 다 같이 국가와 민족을 위해 헌신한 공통점이 있다. 이 분들의 전쟁사는 진행형이다. 누구를 위해 헌신했는지 그리고 무엇을 위해 목숨을 초계와 같이 버렸는지를 살펴보고 그들의 호국정신을 계승 발전시켜야 한다는 점에서 오늘날 이 시대를 사는 우리에게 주어진 사명이 대단히 지고지순하다고 본다.
The purpose of this study is aimed at providing a motivation to prepare the future and acquiring a lesson drawn from the analysis of the revival army of Baekje and its process. It has two themes to address: one is to sublime the history of Baekje revival army into the patriotic ritual from the departing ghost rituals and the other is to set forth lessons from the past history. From the modern perspective, especially applied to meanings from the military studies departed from the independent movement history, this inquiry attempts to reinterpret the warfare process of Baekje revival army and its dynamic interrelations with neighboring states and draw lessons from them. It contends that The warfare of Baekje revival army is derived from the spirit for defending their dynasty by the Baekje people and there is no future for those who forget the past history. In conclusion, this paper argues that the independent movement history of Baekje revival army is incomplete as so much as for those who sacrificed their lives against the Japanese imperialism and killed-inactions( KIAs) during the Korean War. Th greatness for us who live in this era lies in promoting their spirits and patriotism by searching for whom they are sacrificed and for what they give their lives.
