본 연구는 스페인어에서 언어적 공손의 특징에 대한 고찰을 목적으로 한다. 공손은 언어적 행위를 조절하는 원칙 중 하나이므로 화자들은 체면위협행위의 위험을 공손하게 완화하고자 노력하는데, 그럼에도 불구하고 근본적으로 화자의 사회적 체면을 위협할 수 있는 화행이 존재하며, 그 중에는 거절도 포함된다. 거절을 수행함에 있어 유용한 의사소통전략에 대해 인지하는 것은 온전한 스페인어 화자로서 적절하게 행동하기 위해 필수적이다. 이에 대한 몰이해는 의사소통의 실패나 인종･문화에 대한 편견의 고착을 야기할 수 있기 때문이다. 그러므로 본 연구는 ELE 수업에서 거절 전략에 대한 교수-학습의 필요성을 강조하고 또한 제공이나 초대를 적절하게 거절하는 형식을 제시하고자 한다.
The aim of this study is to examine some characteristics of linguistic politeness in the Spanish language. As politeness is a principle of regulating verbal behavior, the interlocutors try to mitigate politely the dangers of the face-threatening acts. Nevertheless, there intrinsically exists some speech acts that can threaten the social face of the interlocutors and the refusals are also included in them. To act correctly as a competent speaker of the Spanish language, the knowledge of the communicative strategies that can be used for performing the refusals is essential because the lack of understanding of it can cause the failure of communication or rootedness of the prejudice against race and culture. Therefore, this study tries to emphasize the need of the teach-learn strategies for the refusal speech acts in the Spanish as Foreign Language(SFL) class and suggest the appropriate forms to refuse invitations or offers.
