This study emphasized that education is now shifting to core competencies. And This study examines what kind of education method is needed for classical novel education in university. In the category of literary education, the category of performance should be dealt with importantly, and the curriculum should be designed around performance tasks and solutions. In particular, the classic novel education for college students in education should focus on the integration of core competencies with the revised core competencies. Preservice teachers must be active educators who can provide creative and convergent education in a changed curriculum. To this end, we reviewed the relationship between current core competencies and high-level novel education, and emphasized the importance of activities to improve performance. It was found that education should be included in the category of knowledge, experience, and attitude, centered on the category of performance, and this is related to experiential education. In the case of classical novel education at university, three steps of performance process were presented. First, the work is embodied and magnetized through the complete reading and presentation of contents production. Next, students will learn the knowledge, experiences, and attitudes about the work by writing lesson plans. Lastly, the task of the work is to be presented, and sample answers and evaluation questions are made directly so as to have a fusion and understanding of the work. Through this performance-oriented education, the core competencies were strengthened, and the value and meaning of the classics could be found and acquired. The classic novel needs to recover from its old-fashioned and difficult subjects, restore its original value, and revive it with competitive content. This is because classical novels are still being recreated in modern times, beyond the language and art that showed human life and history. For this purpose, the method of classical novel education should be designed to acquire performance ability, and it is necessary to induce the combination and production of various contents. Performance-based education is also a very effective educational method in that it can integrate 6 core competencies of Korean language.
