최근 증가하고 있는 자연재해로 기후변화와 환경오염의 중요도는 높아지고 있다. 많은경제학자들은 다양한 경제학 모델에 기후변화와 환경오염의 아이디어를 적용하여 분석하고 있다. 본고는 환경오염 변수를 전통적인 무역의 팩터 콘텐트 모델에 도입하여 수정된 무역의 팩터 콘텐트 모델을 도출하고 이를 실증 분석 하였다. 본고는 유럽 6개국 데이터를 이용하였고 실증 분석 방법론으로는 싸인 테스트, 슬로프 테스트, 베리언즈 레이시오 테스트를 이용하였다. 본고의 연구 결과와 기존 무역의 팩터 콘텐트 모델을 집대성한Davis and Weinstein(2001)의 연구 결과를 비교한 결과, 환경오염 변수를 무역의 팩터 콘텐트 모델 내의 노동과 자본의 기술 매트릭스에 추가하여 수정된 무역의 팩터 콘텐트 모델을 실증 분석 하였을 경우에 전통적인 무역의 팩터 콘텐트 모델을 실증 분석 하였을경우 보다 더 좋은 결과를 도출할 수 있었다. 이를 통해 지금까지 무역의 팩터 콘텐트모델을 구성할 때 간과하였던 환경오염 이슈를 변수화 하여 전통적인 무역의 팩터 콘텐트 모델에 추가하면 모델 설명력이 더 높아질 수 있다는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.
Importance of climate change and pollution has been increased with recent unusual natural disasters. Many economists use the idea of climate change and industrial pollution in the models of economics. This research constructs a modified factor content of trade models by introducing variables for industrial pollution. Concretely, we add variables for climate change and industrial pollution in the technology matrix(L and K) of the factor content of trade model. With this, we derive the modified factor content of trade model and conduct three empirical tests; the sign test, the slope test, and the variance ratio test. This research uses six European countries' data to verify if the modified factor content of trade model has better explanatory power than Davis and Weinstein(2001)’s results. Results of the empirical tests show that we get better results with the modified factor content of trade models than previous ones. Results of empirical tests using European countries' data show that the sign test, the slope test, and the variance ratio test have higher explanatory power than Davis and Weinstein(2001)’s results. We conclude that when we consider environmental issues in explaining the factor content of trade model, we get higher explanatory power in the factor content of trade model. And, results of the empirical tests show that the gravity model can be applied to the classical factor content of trade model with climate change and industrial pollution because European countries are located closely with each other. As a result of this study, we have found that environmental pollution is an important factor in explaining international trade. In particular, we have found that environmental pollution is an important point to be considered in describing the factor content of trade model.
