오규원의 시에서 공간은 우선 주체가 살고 있는 물리적 환경이라는 일반적인 의미로 나타난다. 특히 ‘도시’는 문명비판이라는 주제와 연결되어 있는 기능적인 공간이다. 도시는 상품의 소비가 이루어지는 자본주의적 공간으로서 주체의 편의를 위한 도구들로 가득 차 있다. 이것은 기술에 의해 정복된 공간으로서 ‘몰아세움’이라는 방식으로 현존재와 만난다. 그러나 오규원 시 전반에서는 공간에 대한 실존적 이해가 두드러진다. 그는 기술로 정복된 공간을 비판하고, 대상에서 용재성을 제거함으로써 대상을 그것 자체로 되돌려놓는다. 이때 공간은 사물과 더불어 비로소 열리기 시작한다. 사물은 해방성을 가지고 있는 것으로서 공간을 여는 지점인 셈이다. 이것을 발견하는 것은 현존재로서, 이 시들에서 공간은 현존재의 우위 아래 구성되는 것이다. 오규원의 후기시에서의 ‘허공’은 존재자의 존재를 드러내는 바탕으로서의 ‘무’에 가깝다. 공간은 현존재의 실존방식으로서 우월성을 보장하는 것이 아니라 존재자의 위치에서 거꾸로 현존재의 공간을 구성해오는 것이다. 이것이 하이데거적인 의미의 ‘사건’이다. 오규원이 후기시에 나오는 ‘두두’와 ‘물물’의 세계는 존재자들이 탈 은폐 과정을 거쳐서 그것들의 존재를 드러내는 세계를 말하는 것이다. 현존재는 ‘무화작용’을 통해 두두와 물물이 있는 세계와 만나게 되는데, 이 ‘만남’은 보다 근원적인 공간 경험에 해당한다.
In Oh Gyu-won's poetry, space appears in a general sense as a physical environment in which the subject lives, especially 'city' is a functional space connected to the theme of criticism of civilization. The city is a capitalistic space where consumption of goods is made, and it is filled with ‘Zeug’ for the convenience of the subject which meets ‘Dasein’ in the way of 'Ge-stell' as a space conquered by technology. However, in the whole of Oh Gyu-won's poetry, the existential understanding of space is prominent: he criticizes the space conquered by technology and returns the object to itself by removing the usefulness from the object. At this time, space begins to open with things, which is a point of opening space as it has liberation.,It is the presence that discovers this, in which space is constructed under the predominance of the presence. In the latter period of Oh Gyu-won's poetry, 'emptiness' is close to 'Nichts' as the basis of revealing the existence of the being. Space is not a way of ensuring superiority as an existential method of existence, but it is a space of existence that is conversely composed from the position of being. The world of '두두 頭頭' and '물물 物物' in the latter period of Oh Gyu-won is the world where the beings reveal their existence through the process of concealment. Dasein meets the world through 'Nichtung'. The ‘Gegegnet’ is a more fundamental spatial experience.
