바슐라르의 상상력론은 현대과학과의 연계를 통해 재해석할 때 i) 정신심리적 통일성이나 ii) 의식적 의지가 없이는 작동하지 않는 심연의 힘에 더 비중이 있다. 본고에서 우리가 바슐라르의 상상력을 ‘깨어있는 명료한 의식의 활동’으로 새롭게 접근해보려는 이유가 여기에 있다. 이성이 아닌 상상력에 의식활동의 우선권을 부여하면 ‘복잡한 의식의 신경생리학적 메카니즘’이 더 잘 드러난다. ‘과학의 상상력’이라 최근 주목받고 있는 양자정보과학에 따르면 상상하는 주체의 역동적 상상력은 해부학적 보편적 구조를 벗어나 양자적 모호함 속에서 더욱 다양하게 발흥될 수 있다. 바슐라르는 『공기와 꿈』에서 일찍이 상상하는 마음 혹은 의식이 신경생리학적 물리조건에 변화를 일으킬 수 있을까?, 라고 물었다. 그리고 그는 ‘그렇다’고 대답한 바 있다. 현대과학의 최근 연구는 이러한 바슐라르의 ‘대답’이 타당한 것이었음을 증명해내고 있다. 대표적으로 ‘상상하는 뇌’의 fMRI가 바로 그 단적인 예다. 본고의 목표는 바슐라르의 상상력의 형이상학적 보고가 동시에 과학적 보고이기도 하다는 점을 밝히는데 있다.
Imagination, of Bachelard emphasizes the voluntary dynamics of ‘conscious Will’. Showing the whole activation of neural network scientists support that imagination even alters our perception and cognition. This is why we regard Bachelard’s Imagination as the concrete action of ‘fully awaken and clear consciousness’ in this article. When the conscious priority is given to action of imagination, not of reason, imagination clearly reveals its ‘neurophysiological mechanism of complex consciousness’. ‘Quantum Information Theory’: ‘Imagination of Science’ implicates the dynamics of imagination out of localty of anatomical structure. In Air and Dreams Bachelard had asked that imagining mind or consciousness can change the physiological condition of organization and his answer was yes. In recent years, validity of his answer could be proved by thousands of images of fMRI. Bachelard’s philosophy of Imagination values metaphysics not only in poetics but also in neoteric science.
